VANITY: WHERE DOES THE GOP ESTABLISHMENT LIVE?
4/9/16 | windhover

Before I go on, I need to say to those of you who are doing politics for the first time, that I am deeply- and I do mean this from the heart - very disappointed this has been such a negative experience for so many. IT IS NOT YOUR FAULT.

The GOP Establishment, that is busily stealing away Trump delegates, does not really live in DC; it lives in your Precinct and is shaking your hand at your own County Convention. They are Party loyalists who live in the grass roots, and know how to play the game. This needs to be grasped, and quickly.

Respectfully, this is what happens when a candidate does not put in place an effective organization in depth; to educate what the delegate selection and convention process is all about - where they themselves live!; then inform people what their job is,and keep them up to date when changes occur. Communication on the County and Precinct level should begin at least two years before the nominating process starts. Mr.Trump was, probably, not well served either by advisers failing to tell him that successful campaigns must begin from the bottom up--where the people live.

It is hard to play catch up in this, but far from impossible. Do not give up. You are Americans. You have the guts to overcome adversity and WIN. Donald Trump has now become painfully aware of what is needed.I believe appointed the right people to give you the support you need. Do not feel that you are alone, and become discouraged. Make contact with your formal campaign, where ever it is and get meetings called and put in motion where you live.

Finally; DO NOT believe you have been outsmarted or beaten. The Establishment you fight has been in place, in depth, where you live for generations. Only the people change. They are pros, who will do anything to win. You have fought the first painful round and survived, but most important, you have learned. They can be beaten. I know. Most of all: DO NOT GIVE UP AND DO NOT(DO NOT) WALK OUT. This is what they want, because it will give them victory by default. Help is undoubtedly on the way.

Nothing can stop a free people who know they are fighting to keep their freedom. Hang in there and keep fighting the good fight! May God bless you all.

Personally, I am very happy that I am backing someone with the smarts and the savvy and the experience to know how to play the political game according to the rules and win.

Neither he nor I are part of this so-called establishment and it is worse than insulting to pretend that we are. It is dishonest.

Cruz is clearly compromised and is now under the control of the GOPe. He is doing their bidding in robotic efficiency. Cruz is Mitt's bitch.

Amen. Plus the ground game requires relationship building as opposed to all this huffing and puffing.

It's just sad to see so many hopes, dreams and aspirations invested in an ignorant flim-flam man like Donald J. Trump. If he ever were elected President, he'd sell out your freedoms in a New York minute to Chuck Schumer or Nancy Pelosi or whomever else he could a cut a great deal with. I'd be shocked if The Donald has ever read the U.S. Constitution, or could intelligently discuss any part of it, or could even name any part of it other than perhaps a few words from the preamble or a couple of the well-known amendments (1, 2, 5). Donald Trump isn't the man to save the Republic. He doesn't even know what it means to be a republic.

John, by no means do I mean to imply, if you support Sen. Cruz, that you are the Establishment. If you have taken it that way, I do apologize. If the shoe was on the other foot, I would have written the same thing. No, I am convinced Sen. Cruz, if he is your candidate, is definitely not the Establishment.

These are the three things I was trying to do in my post: First, I do sympathize with those who are new to the process. Having been there years ago, I know how intimidating and bewildering it can be and I hope to encourage them. Second, these folks have been ill served, because they did not have a grass roots organization to educate, advise, and establish a network in which they play a part. The Cruz campaign have this, and simply did the job that inexperienced Trump supporters should have had. They are now angry and believe they are being cheated by the rules. Mr. Trump was obviously not a skilled campaign organizer and so did not give his people the same advantages. Rules Committees are usually run by county pros who try to word the rules to baffle opposition and give the Party candidate an edge, and smart candidates wire into these networks. I guess the third point is apparent. We simply can't afford to discourage new blood from the process, if we are to remain free much longer. Yes,Sen.Cruz will need these people too. Only the corrupt political Establishment will profit if the go and never return.

Sincerely hope this satisfies some of your concerns.

Following the news on CO .
Reports are that the Trump campaign in CO was a total disaster. They they didn't even know the names of the delegates.

An interesting find

But Cruz's win in Colorado also highlights Trump's troubles with winning over the hard-right anti-Washington conservatives. Trump has been known to poll the weakest among hard-right Republicans, and is typically disliked among Tea Party conservatives.

Good post.....

...Without a sophisticated ground operation to penetrate and operate within the layers of the process a candidate is not going to fair well going into convention.....Trump ignored those who advised him of this.....now he's learning they were right...discovered late in the game.

Right now Trump's in danger of falling short of the 50 % plus 1 delegate threshold in order to clinch the nomination ‘before’ the convention...that fact is just beginning to sink in with Trump supporters who've been behind the curve in understanding how this works.

I am loving watching the plays ......it's going to get real bumpy in the weeks ahead.....”tackle's and passes” before anybody has the ball to run home with....

This is pure BS and you know it!

Delegates in most every state are the guy who cuts your hair, sells you your car insurance, balances your tires, teaches pre-school and gives piano lessons to assist her bills for her handicapped son to travel miles for treatment, the part time checker at your local lawn and garden shop, the retired police Sargent, so just shut up with your evil threats, thuggery and bragging!

I used to think that most people here on FR had much in common.

Obviously not for many of you have opted to threaten, harrass and flex your very impotent verbal volleys but you've been tiresome, now you're just a bore.

BTW...Cruz has pretty much wrapped up the Indiana delegates.....there's been ‘very’ strong opposition to Trump in that state with many officials organizing meetings with Cruz and the delegates to get it done there. These people were on fire to get it done before Trump gets there....looks like they were successful....

BTW....the moves now are not Trump making them....it's his new man making all and every play and move now. Fair to say the Big League’s are now at the helms and Trump a puppet/student because he can't grasp the game or the board on his own.

My crazy uncle Mike lives upstairs. He hates Donald T.Rump more than anyone I know because T.Rump has made a good living by employing H-1B visa holders which have put many Americans out of work.

Thanks...yes I know about precincts etc...been thus involved but do have to add that it seems this is a battle between the attorney class and entrepreneurs class...I watched our GOP “establishment” play games with the appointment to a state reps position a couple years ago (County PCPS get to do that)...people who were PCPS in name only who never showed up to county meetings suddenly appeared to bastardize the process...so the establisments “chosen one” could be appointed. I guess my point is...Attorneys write the rules and play games... entrepreneurs get work done and accomplish things. We have to decide what kind of President we want...rulemaker/game player or someone who gets things done thru others.
