Attendees at the annual New York State Republican gala were more interested in consuming their dinner Thursday night than listening to Ted Cruz address the audience.
The three remaining Republican presidential candidates gave remarks to hundreds of guests at the Manhattan event. GOP front-runner Donald Trump spoke first, followed by Ohio Gov. John Kasich before finally Cruz took the stage.
While some guests remained seated during the introduction of the New York businessman, who leads the race with a 30-point margin, Cruz received the worst reception.
Guests could even be heard on livestreamed footage poking around with knives and forks as they picked apart their dinners as the Texas senator spoke. Cruz focused on many of the policies immigration, national security, jobs that he has also addressed at campaign rallies.
Members of the audience also walked around the large room at the Grand Hyatt in midtown Manhattan as the tuxedo-adorned speaker shared his vision for America.
Cruz may have expected that kind of unwelcoming environment after he criticized New Yorkers for their values. Kasich, ranked second in the Empire State primary, was also ignored by some attendees.
he isnt really that dumb
no but his base sure is—
It was extremely distracting and made listening to the live stream almost impossible.
My guess is the union thugs on the soundboard were monkeying with the feed. They seem to do this all the time with those they don't like. They used to do it to FOX all the time. It sounded like the only microphones working were the ones at the back of the room and outside the kitchen.
“TRUE and FOX commented yesterday that their audio was not working right. It happened in a split second. Every candidate had equal representation plus they began serving the food as Cruz spoke.”
Yep. I am sure it was an “accident” by Hannity. Fox has become a joke in that regard.
Trump and Cruz did fine. Did not say anything exceptional, and well both politely accepted.
Kasich, people made rude comments at my table, which, despite not liking Kasich, I did not care for.
“I have to say that trump is not monotone at least. Cruz has a horrible voice.”
Which is really weird. In person, Cruz speaks much lower and clearly. I think some speech class ruined him and gave him an “appellate lawyer” voice.
Thank you.
There was one live feed and they admitted screwing up.
I’m a committed Freeper who has donated well over $10K to this site over time. I take this site very seriously and don’t plan on ruining credibility over something so silly.
“Raphael forked himself with his derogatory statement by the people with New York Values.”
BBBwwwwahahahaha! “He pointed out the difference between capitalism and Marxism.”
I don’t know what intellectual diatribe you were listening to but it sure wasn’t about the lawsuit Grand Hyatt NYC. Now wasn’t that an enlightening battle. Blaming things on being a hard time for the city...(was that a whine I heard?).
“I love speaking at the Grand Hyatt. I built this building...”
Uh, half the building. Uh, 1/4 since it was redone? Well it has been stripped of all the mirrors and gold glitz. LOL This isn’t one of Saddam Hussein’s palaces. or was it?
“Mr. Trump was able to negotiate an unprecedented contract in which the city provided a 40-year tax abatement, the first ever granted to a commercial property.”

See the historical building:

I was just looking at the google map image of the mirrored outside of the hyatt. As if the building doesn’t have it’s own soul but is just a reflection of the greatness surrounding it.
I’ve been reading about his building history. So terribly enlightening. I had to LOL at this...
“In his books and his speeches, Trump is always bragging about his accomplishments, repeating the same ones over and over again. How he transformed the derelict Commodore Hotel in New York. How he saved the Wollman Rink project. How he acquired 40 Wall Street. How he fought his way back from billion-dollar debt in the 1990s. It can become soul-deadening to hear hours at a time.” But in the end the guy says it all...
“I was relieved to emerge from the Trump empire with my sanity intact, and with a new appreciation for the man. Trump isnt who you think he is: A great American huckster with a stringy maize mop. Hes who he thinks he is: A GREAT AMERICAN LEADER WHO CAN MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, TOO . A leader who has the goods to back it up, unlike a President Carter or a President Reagan. Trumps irrepressible self-belief in the face of an establishment that spurns him is what ultimately endears him to voters.”

DT also believes the city will outlive all of them but he knows nothing of moral decay and the wrath of God. We have seen a glimpse and been forewarned (those warnings were re-called or like in a campaign - backtracked) but that is another discussion. That is the NY value discussion.
[1994 - granted when DT fails it’s always the other guy who is out to get him...] Title: Hyatt Owners Sue Trump for $100 Million : Real estate: They contend the developer did not pay his share for renovations to a jointly owned New York hotel.
In addition, the suit says Trump secretly ceded his interest in the Grand Hyatt to Bankers Trust Co. and Chemical Bank, two of his leading creditors.
That move, an apparent violation of his partnership agreement with Hyatt, left Hyatt in the uneasy position of having two sets of partners: Trump, who had a veto over management plans but no financial interest in the outcome, and the banks, which had a financial interest but no vote.

Yes he did appeal until “Trump Sells Hyatt Share To Pritzkers”
“Donald J. Trump sold his half interest in the Grand Hyatt Hotel in New York to the Pritzker family’s Hyatt Corporation yesterday for $140 million, bringing to an end an often rancorous, 17-year partnership in a landmark property that marked the developer’s rise to prominence.”

Lee Iaccoca: “Word is getting around about this, “Iacocca said. “People think that I`m thinking about becoming a real estate tycoon. I`m not. I`m in the car business. I`ve always believed that you are born for one business. I`m Donald Trump`s partner and real estate is his business.”
ruh roh, he better stick with real estate.
The business ignorance, here of late, is astonishing.
I agree...their hatred is clouding any pinpoint of common sense they may possess.
Sounds like you support Bernie.
Just the facts, ma’m.
The speech was about the ice rink lyin’ Ted.
So What? Did Cruz ever explain why he paid Carley $500K?
