Ted Cruz is poised to pick up another small win that will narrow the gap*

CASPER, Wyo. (Reuters) - Republican U.S. presidential hopeful Ted Cruz is expected to win most of the 14 delegates up for grabs on Saturday in Wyoming, likely besting rival Donald Trump, who made little effort to win the rural state, and further narrowing the gap in the race for the party's nomination.

Cruz is trying to prevent Trump from obtaining the 1,237 delegates needed to secure the Republican nomination at the July convention in Cleveland. By continuing to rack up small wins, Cruz is gaining ground on the New York real estate mogul, who has thus far failed to shift his focus on the local-level campaigning necessary to win delegates.

While Trump has won 21 state nominating contests to Cruz's nine, the billionaire leads the Texas senator by only 208 delegates (755-545). That means he must win nearly 60 percent of those remaining before July.

Cruz is crashing in the polls now. What happens to his momentum after he loses the next 6 contests, often placing 3rd?
He is done.
— Bill Mitchell (@mitchellvii) April 15, 2016

If Cruz destroys the Party at the Convention then loses to Hillary, he is finished politically - BUT if he quits, he has a bright future.
— Bill Mitchell (@mitchellvii) April 15, 2016

Yes, Cruz is a narcissistic jerk - and exactly why he will likely quit before Cleveland. Narcissists don't often commit suicide.
— Bill Mitchell (@mitchellvii) April 15, 2016

I'm going on record as predicting CRUZ QUITS BEFORE CLEVELAND in a magnanimous gesture to save the Party gaining future leverage & goodwill.
— Bill Mitchell (@mitchellvii) April 15, 2016

Does narcissistic Cruz at age 45 seem like the kind of man to destroy his career just to stop a man with whom he largely agrees on policy?
— Bill Mitchell (@mitchellvii) April 15, 2016

People say Cruz will stay in to the end out of ambition - but political suicide is not ambitious. Being the guy who "savedthe Party" is.
— Bill Mitchell (@mitchellvii) April 15, 2016

Cruz going to Cleveland would be the equivalent of a Kamikaze pilot diving into an enemy ship. Bad for the boat, worse for the pilot.

They won a little skirmish, but are losing the war BIG TIME.

Amazing all the smart people here that don’t get it. The big picture problem is not rocket science to anyone who is not stuck staring at one tree so long they get so cross-eyed they think the fuzzy thing they see is the whole forest.

What happened In Colorado is indefensible on any coherent, rational, ethical, or moral ground. Everyone know this. THAT is the big picture, that is the forest - and exactly why Trump is so much more popular than any other candidate. THAT is why there is a movement like we have never before seen in American politics. Trump is blowing up the status-quo Americans have HATED for so long. And Colorado gave him more ammunition in that fight for freedom from establishment elitists cramming what they want down our throats.

“Cruz told the Colorado crowd earlier that it’s easy to talk about making America great again — “you can even print that on a baseball cap” — but that the more important question is which candidate understands “the principles and values that made America great in the first place.”

Does that mean getting in bed with and wildly fornicating and fluffing every establishment elitist he can get close to?

Wow he makes me sick. To think I bought his book “A Time For Truth”. I actually believed he was “the only principled candidate in the race”. He proved how stupid I was to believe him. Six months ago no one would have believed Cruz would be where he is right now - in bed with the GOP elite.

I’ll still vote for him if he is the nominee but I’d like a refund on the book.

Just in time for crushing defeats in NY, CT, DE, RI, MD, and PA. He’s running dead last in at least 4 of them.

Apparently, Cruz only wins in states where the voters have little say. And he is not on track to get to the magic number of 1237 at all. He is acting as a spoiler, so intent on trying to stop Trump that he appears to have no sense of rationality.

The CO situation has hurt Cruz. Kasich pulling ahead of him means that he gets few or no delegates in the states in which Trump is poised to win this week.

Cruz cannot win the Republican nomination outright, and maybe has no chance of winning even if he wines and dines all of the delegates to get that second, third, fourth round nomination that Cruzers have pinned their hopes on. He certainly cannot win the general election—he has given the Democrat/media cabal way too much ammunition to use against him.

The “GOP machine” despite Trumpkin claims, isn’t “handing” him anything and he’s not “eliminated” until Trump reaches 1,237. Has that happened already? BTW, you might want to read this:

Cruz is not "eliminated" unless Trump reaches the magic 1237 number. By your logic Trump is likely to be "eliminated" when California votes.
