Men are 44% of the electorate .

Non - PC men maybe 30% of the electorate.

Hope Trump’s base of support is wide enough in the fall.

The way Donald carries on, you’d think that the GOP was there for the good of the American people! The nerve!

/s

(But if George Washington knew about this, he’d probably give Donald an attaboy for it. He hated political parties.)

Donald really does need to learn what he's talking about before running his mouth. The RNC Chairman is elected by the RNC members, who consist of the National Committeeman, National Committeewoman, and State Chairman of each of the state and territorial parties. The presidential nominee does not automatically take over the machinery of the RNC, nor does the nominee, or even a sitting president, automatically name the RNC Chairman.

There is indeed a long tradition that the RNC, post convention, will hand the reins to the nominee. This usually involves the movement of a portion of the campaign staff onto the RNC payroll, including some in senior, directing positions. But that is a matter of voluntary deference. The RNC is legally independent of the nominee and in theory could choose not to accommodate him. That would be unusual, but Trump is creating all sorts of unusual situations.

Well yeah! He’s attacking the GOP itself, now!

And a lot of people are lovin’ it.

Well, duh. Of course he will try to have his own chairman who will watch his back. That’s pretty typical. Not sure why this is news.

He shouldn’t inform Priebus of his intentions: keep him off guard. Goldwater made chairman William E. Miller his running mate and Dean Burch the new chairman. After the election Burch was sacked by the ruling moderates in favor of Ray Bliss. So should Trump make Priebus his running mate?

Good point, a positively Dickensian name! It may be the funniest name of all the Badgers.

“I didn’t know that the president had the power to fire the party chairman.”

He has the power to have him arrested.

GHWB put in Lee Atwater; GWB seemed to have a new once every two years.

Typically the President always becomes the head of his political party. If he doesn’t then that political party has serious divisions.

If Trump wins the election Rinse is toast.

Like a master poker player, Trump just raised the stakes for the establishment lap dogs at the RNC.

After all, it’s “in the rules” that the Presidential nominee gets to choose the party chairman.

Live by the “rules” die by the “rules” — to hell with doing what is right — scum.

Right. so why antagonize the chair, if you have power over it anyway.

Maybe the RNC helps trump 70% and then provides the rest of the support to senate/house.

Then Trump just whines about that too when he loses in the fall.

Three consecutive terms under a Democrat president who has been ramming BS down our throats for 8 years.
Rinsed did such a bang-up job with Mittens in 2012 ... ditch this looser!

I don’t know how the RNC Chairman is selected

The casting couch isn't just for movies, it would seem.
