Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX)said Wednesday morning that a contested Republican convention is certain and that supporters of Donald Trump are ultimately helping Hillary Clinton reach the White House.

During a radio interview for a Philadelphia morning show, Cruz predicted with certainty that the Republican Party is “headed to a contested convention.” He suggests Trump supporters “might as well put a Hillary sticker on your car.”

Expanding the GOP voter base is our only chance of winning this year and Trump’s the only guy in the party that can do it.

I have supported Cruz...and I know he (like any Presidential candidate) is convinced of the absolute need for his nomination.

But he needs to start stepping back and considering what is best for this nation now that he is being mathematically eliminated in terms of a path to the nomination before the convention.

This year, an ugly convention fight will be what leads to a Hillary victory. It will split the party and disenfranchise voters.

What is needed is a voice of unity and someone who can repair the party and help support and promote a winning ticket.

That ticket is, in all probability going to be Donald Trump.

As I say, I am a Cruz supporter...yet I can see this as plain as the nose on my face.

Cruz can help bring the party together if he will face reality, set aside his pride, bury the war hatchet, and come together soon (perhaps after Indiana) and throw in with Trump.

That will:

1) Unite the party as much as is possible in this cucly.
2) deliver a death blow to the GOPe.
3) Create a ticket that can win this race against Hillary.

All of that is what is best for this nation.

We absolutely cannot afford a 3rd Obama term (or worse), and we absolutely need to deliver a stunning blow to the GOPe.

It is my sincere prayer that Cruz will be able to do this.

If it weren’t so sad and tragic, it’d be laughable.
Cheer up, Ted!

Cruz’s focus on insulting and bullying the supporters of Trump is bizarre. Blacklists, personal insults, etc.

Shortly, the insane never Trumpers will be escorted from the building. It can’t come soon enough.

I am a Trump supporter, but I thoroughly disagree with this line of accusation.

A person votes for whom they vote for. If they believe a certain way and none of the candidates can be supported by them except one, then that’s just the way it is.

I believe in 3rd parties (how about a true 2nd party), alternative candidates, voting, and independence.

By this logic, a vote for Romney in the last election was a vote for Obama....because Romney ran a lousy campaign and lost. It would have been better to vote for someone else who might have won.

It’s true.

If it weren’t so sad and tragic, it’d be laughable.

I tend to agree with you somewhat but the problem with Cruz saying things like this is he’s giving campaign sound bites to Team Hillary

I believe that Trump will either completely destroy Hillary, or get utterly trounced. Same with Cruz, except that his likelihood of getting utterly trounced is much, much higher.

If Trump loses the general though, even by a hair, you can bet your bottom dollar that certain people around here will crow shrilly to the rooftops until they go deaf that they TOLD us he would never win and how's Cruz looking now and...etc.

Keep trashing 62% of the republican base, Teddy

Used to think “hoof in mouth “ was a cattle disease but the senator from Texas seems to have a chronic case

Do you honestly believe that Cruz can win the general?

If so, on what facts do you base that belief?

Well, Cruz may be right about that. Unfortunately, you could also say that Cruz supporters might as well put a Hillary sticker on their car.

I think it's going to be ugly for us either way in November....

Pun intended.

So now Cruz is showing the infamous personality which has garnered him so many friends and supporters amongst his peers.

He's a pretentious prick.

That doesn’t even make sense.

Ted Cruz hurt himself when he couldn’t even stand up to some lame Hispanic rapper regarding illegal immigration.

Hiding like that was weaselly and showed cowardice.

Hillary does not want to run against Trump because he will make sure all her nasty and dirty laundry is out there for everyone.
