Ted Cruz: Trump Is ‘Afraid’ to Debate
Breitbart ^ | 04/20/16 | Pam Key

Posted on 04/20/2016 8:23:27 PM PDT by writer33

Wednesday while campaigning in Hershey PA, Republican presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)said his rival Donald Trump was “afraid of a debate” with him because he lacked “substantive solutions” on policy.

Cruz said, “What I agree is that the Democratic process works, and Donald whines and complains when the voters reject him. The voters are going to decide. We’ve won five states in a row. Donald won his home state, which surprised nobody. And it’s the people — we are seeing Republicans uniting behind our campaign. Because if Donald is the nominee, Hillary wins and she wins by double digits. The stakes for our country are too great to continue down this disastrous economic road and this foreign policy that empowers our enemies. And so I couldn’t be more encouraged at seeing the unity we are having across the country. Donald’s desperation had everyone wanting to just give him the race. It shows that he’s scared when the people decide. You know, if Donald had confidence in his positions, we’d have a debate in Pennsylvania, before Pennsylvania votes. What is Donald Trump saying to the people of Pennsylvania that he thinks they don’t deserve a debate? What does it say about the corrupt big government Democrats that they’re willing to have debates. That Hillary Clinton is more willing to have her positions challenged than Donald Trump? I think that’s disgraceful. I think any candidate owes it to the voters to defend their positions.

He’s way overrated. His biggest downfall is his smarmy condescending tone and attitude. It’s his delivery that sabotages the content of what he argues or presents. Cruz enunciates in lawyer-speak utterances.

“Trump and Cruz have never debated. Trump, Cruz, Rubio and Kasich have debated. It’s not the same thing now is it.” — Writer33

I am pretty sure Cruz and Trump debated in those debates. I am also pretty sure cross words flew both ways.

If you are in a four-way fight, how are you not fighting with one of them?

Logic is not a virtue for writers, I see.

Let me explain it. Rules dictate that 1237 is the majority of the delegates. Whomever gets there first is the nominee. Those are written facts.

I think you don't realize that Americans don't want a debater in chief.

They want someone to stop the drift into chaos we are spiraling in.

Cruz could debate Hillary until the cows come home, and it wouldn't get him much in the way of votes.

I’m a Trump voter but never had any animosity against Cruz. I admit I found him off putting a bit, but I would vote for him in November without hesitation. And watch us lose.

But he’s getting to the point where I’ll support a primary challenger to him in Texas in a couple of years. This guy’s asshat quotient is going through the roof in my book.

non-conservative, eh?

then why has Cruz copied every single one of Trump’s platform planks? and in some cases, been forced to go extreme right to one-up Trump?

Backed into a corner, he's going to triple quadruple down on the only thing that cured his insecurities as a kid ... the only thing he was good at ... formal debate ... where he was judge on his cleverness ... and yet disliked by his teammates and opponents and judges. Totally unbalanced individual.

Running for president is more than a debate. Cruz can't believe that's true. He thinks life is a debate.

No wonder Heidi was depressed. The kids seemed kind of weird on TV - at least the older one. Asked about her puzzle she exclaimed, and not so much with joy ... "I finished it in only a month' ... the tone was weird. IN the Cruz family ... it's all about cleverness and winning ... not about why you fight.

Cruz has no 'why' except 'for my presidency'

“...Cruz supporters....”

It’s time to put bruised egos behind us,
heal our differences and act united
in the best interests of our nation.
The media and the GOPe will try to keep us divided, of course,
but we must not fall for their treasonous tricks.

A divided Republican party will ensure Hillary waltzes into the White House in November.

Let’s get Trump over the 1237 mark and finally take the GOPe completely out of the picture.
