Transgender people should be able to use whatever bathroom they want, Donald Trump said Thursday.
"Oh, I had a feeling that question was going to come up, I will tell you. North Carolina did something that was very strong. And they're paying a big price. There's a lot of problems," the Republican presidential candidate said during a town hall event on NBC's "Today."
Referring to comments from an unnamed commentator who on Wednesday said North Carolina should "leave it the way it is right now," Trump said he agreed.
"Leave it the way it is. North Carolina, what they're going through with all the business that's leaving, all of the strife -- and this is on both sides. Leave it the way it is," he said, referring to companies that have canceled plans to move or expand businesses in the state as a result of the law, which bans transgender individuals from using a bathroom that does not match their gender at birth.
"There have been very few complaints the way it is. People go. They use the bathroom that they feel is appropriate," Trump said. "There has been so little trouble. And the problem with what happened in North Carolina is the strife and the economic -- I mean, the economic punishment that they're taking."
Matt Lauer then asked whether Trump has any transgender people working for his company.
"I really don't know. I probably do. I really don't know," Trump said, answering that he would allow, say, transgender celebrity Caitlyn Jenner to use whatever bathroom she wanted at Trump Tower.

The questions and topic was about transgenders. It has now morphed into Trump demanding that perverts go to the restrooms with little girls. See Cruz’s twitter post.

That’s exactly what he said. He said men who think they are women should be allowed in a girls bathroom.
And since you can’t prove what someone thinks, that means all men.
You are so right. Men dressed as women have been using the same bathroom as women for as long as I can remember. It’s not just in San Francisco or New York - it happens every day in fly-over country too.
The problem with the ordinance that the NC state legislature struck down is that it opened the bathroom and locker room doors to any pervert, teenage guy, or lonely voyeur who could then claim he ‘identified’ as a woman at that moment. So perverts, including registered sex offenders, could lurk in the ladies rooms and dressing rooms.
BTW the people behind the ordinance were a super liberal mayor and her buddy who is a registered sex offender.

Nothing
Unless we small government conservatives want to pay to install a guard doing pecker checks in front of each public bathroom in this country, the law is pointless and un-enforceable.
I’ve read 4 different articles and not one is Trump quoted blasting the new law. Nor did he defend “perverts”. Lauer was trying to trap him and all he said was it wasnt a big issue the way things were and now that it is, it has become an economnic issue. That is factually correct.
He didn’t come out swinging for or against any state laws. Nor should he.
By the way, anybody afraid of their young children getting molested in the bathroom should accompany them anyway. That is allowed.

I read the book “War on Women” and suggest many to read it if they haven't...I thought I knew a lot of that mess because I was living with all the news at that time, then they shut the news down, there is a lot of information in there, all documented and you can find most of it on the Internet, a lot has been erased, (surprise, surprise)...
Well stated, and I am in total agreement. I would be aghast if I had used a stall in a ladies’ restroom, was washing my hands, and a big (or small) obvious man who was pretending to be a female came out of another stall. I can almost feel how hard my heart would be beating, trying to get the heck out of there faster than you can say “away from me, freak”.
It’s up to the proper gendered persons in the restroom to do the right thing when a confused pervert enters. Beat the sh-t out of it.
They would not have let him get away with that. Democrats are allowed to skate, Reps are not.
He answered as a businessman, saying that it’s not an issue gov’t should get involved in. As it is, this law is costing NC a whole lot of money, and if taken to the extreme, could cost small businesses a whole lot more.
It’s a nonissue. I’m sure every single one of us has used a public bathroom at the same time as a gay person, and we’re all still here to tell the tale. We also have plenty of unisex and family bathrooms around that are used by all genders and nobody’s died yet.
If some pervert does something, that’s a separate issue. Such behavior is already against the law whether it takes place in a bathroom or not.
