Ted Cruz called California "the big enchilada” on Wednesday and said it would be the state that ultimately decides the Republican nomination. But a new poll from Capitol Weekly/Sextant Strategies shows Donald Trump in a dominant position across the state.

The results, provided to POLITICO, show Trump leading statewide with 41 percent of the vote and Cruz trailing far behind with 23 percent. John Kasich is in third with 21 percent, and 15 percent of Republicans said they remain undecided.

California is worth 172 delegates when it votes on June 7 — with the winner of each of the state’s 53 congressional districts receiving three delegates. The statewide winner receives 13 delegates.

The Capitol Weekly/Sextant Strategies poll shows Trump winning in almost every corner of the state, from San Diego and Orange County to northern California and the Bay Area, though some regions have small sample sizes. Cruz performs strongest in the Central Valley, as he has in previous surveys, though he still trails Trump there by 7 percentage points, 35 percent to 28 percent. Trump leads in the liberal Bay Area, but it is Kasich who nudges above Cruz into second place, trailing Trump 39 percent to 25 percent.

Trump’s strongest region is the Inland Empire of southern California, where he hits 49 percent support. Trump scores best among older voters, winning those 55 and over with 43 percent, and weaker among younger voters.

I greatly appreciate your advice.

The help that our candidate needs has come in the form of Donald Trump.

After this weekend I think we'll need more help answering calls and e-mails from greatly disturbed delegates coming home to where they belonged in the first place.

We're gonna need a bigger boat!

To rescue those folks jumping from the decks of the SS TRUMPTANTIC!

It seems to be listing to the port side....hmmmmm...imagine that!

May the Force be with you.

Jedi :-)

You mean like people in the Midwest who fail to see the creep of change around them?

No, the border states and most larger cities elsewhere. I don’t know if the invasion has reached the Midwest as a whole yet. Not quite yet I don’t think, but give it 10 years.

Yeah, the bathroom issue is so much more important than the economy, terrorism, the economy, taxes.

1. the bathroom issue is creating anger? I think the stealing delegates issue is creating more anger
2. the value added tax is as great an idea as it is in Europe

I try to tell everyone I can how ugly an invaded state can be. And to not let it happen here! I consider it my duty, after escaping Mexifornia for all the reasons you said. I wish I had taken videos of an average trip to walmart or a restaurant - nobody here in the US would believe how bad it is.

I take it you’ve never been to Chicago, Dearborn, or Hamtramack.

To the women who are telling the men in their lives to get that %^$# Trump sticker off the family car it is.

Their families are right there...next to them everyday...up close and personal like.

Policy is not.

Policy is not at risk.

Their family and friends are.

See tagline.

There is a NEW HOPE.

Anger is in the eye of the beholder.

Trump's increasing taxes on the rich must mean his Flat Tax Plan is missing huh?

Unless he plans on raising the flat rate.

Or not.

Nice tax break he gets with those goats huh?

FRgards,

Jedi.
