Trump: You Bet I Support Raising Taxes on the Rich
Townhall ^ | 04/21/2016 | Guy Benson

GUTHRIE: Do you believe in raising taxes on the wealthy?

TRUMP: I do. I do – including myself. I do.

That was...this morning, in an interview that featured some other controversial statements.  In fairness to Trump, he's been using the "raise taxes on rich people like me" line for months, embracing Obama-style class warfare tax gimmicks like the 'Buffet Rule.'  But raising taxes on anyone, an outcome Trump just re-endorsed, is not what his formal policy agenda proposes.  Just the opposite.  As we've seen on issues such immigrationabortion and foreign policy, Trump routinely makes clear that he isn't familiar with his own positions.  His stances aren't rooted in conviction, coherent ideological underpinnings or governing philosophy.  They "evolve" and morph depending on how Trump is feeling in any given moment.  Some professed conservatives may be perfectly comfortable voting for a tax-hiking, entitlement reform-opposing critic of Ronald Reagan's tax cuts.  But many Republicans, including a 62 percent majority of GOP primary voters thus far, aren't eager to turn the keys of the party over to someone whose record and current statements build a strong case against the proposition that he's reliable conservative -- or much of a conservative at all.  Parting thought: It's astonishing that this man appeals to people who loathe establishment "insider" types.  Earlier in the answer above, longtime Democratic donor chuckles with multimillionaire celebrity newsman Matt Lauer about all the fancy parties they've attended together with hotshot bankers in New York.  Man of the people.

Maybe he just wants to raise taxes on his favorite wealthy group - Planned Parenthood.

Your reflexive little deflections aren’t going to work. The subject matter is Trump’s shapeshifting on important issues. Do try to keep up.

For sure. Any moment now, I expect some stompy footing and crying about how Cruz stole Colorado. Or even the “Cuban Mistress Crisis”.

Here is what I am talking about. This post is nasty and uncalled for:

They'll justify it because they are stupid enough to really believe King Trumpy is going to build a wall,

--kjam22

This is what Jim Robinson is trying to cancel out.

We’ve know this for months,

You mean I've known it for months, and you learned about it today.

and we’ve been trying to enlighten you brain dead TRUMPBOTS that are country is at stake.

Yes, because removing loopholes on hedge fund managers and making sure they pay the same amount as other people, and yet that would STILL be an overall tax break, is definitely going to destroy the country.

We should elect the bread-faced mutant so he can let in illegals and pass TPP, which will save us all.

Trump was bragging about a pathway to citizenship.

Wonder how many of his voters realize what he is for when it comes to immigration?

Here’s how it works. The Congress proposes tax increases and the President signs off on them.

Now, if we have a Conservative Congress, they will look for spending cuts, not tax increases.

Trump has already indicated he’ll cut a few of the useless departments, ie EPA DOEd, etc.

This is just campaign talk.

And more from Trump’s site:

“The Trump Tax Plan Ends The Unfair Death Tax

The death tax punishes families for achieving the American dream. Therefore, the Trump plan eliminates the death tax.”

...He’s already starting the General Election....

Nothing new here. Most candidates play to their base during the primaries then move toward the center for the general.

“The trumpers have put down their torches and pitchforks a little this morning.

Celebrated a little too much last night.”

They’re going to have a hangover that’s going to last until at least November, if they have their way.

Not just 10 percent, not just 12 percent, twelve point TWO!

This sounds like my engineering classes where students were warned that just because their calculators will come up with 6 significant figure, you do not design in a 198.325 ohm resistor.

Trump has his economic plan on his website. No reason to guess or make assumptions when it is in black and white. It has been out for quite awhile now.

>>> So Deceptive Donnie who you really want, huh Trumpbots?

I would call myself a strong Trump supporter, though he was 4th on my original list of preferences. I knew he was not conservative, and on a number of issues quite liberal. I am not pleased about that, but I support him with eyes wide open.

He singlehandedly made border control, Islamism and political correctness topics of this election, and the only one who consistently takes the right positions on them.

If, upon election, he succeeds at those 3 issues alone, he will have been a valuable president. The bottom line is, this country has fallen away from values that conservatives hold dear, and willing it were otherwise won’t make it so. People have to be brought back into the fold 1 by 1.

You and I both know the establishment has no will to address those issues, and with Cruz having proven himself to be a tool, and with Carson proving himself unable to swim in the DC shark tank, that leaves Trump as the last turd in the punchbowl.
