One interpretation of Tennyson's ballad, "The Lady of Shalott," is that great artists produce great art because they exist outside of convention, and it is their disconnection from, "normalcy," that allows them to observe life from an outsider's point of view. Those of us in the mainstream view their work as visionary and innovative because it comes from a perspective beyond our day to day experience.

Of course, to effectively communicate their observations and commentary, the artist must also be a master technician be it with a paint brush, chisel, or in Prince's case, a guitar.

I have no doubt he said something like that. The issue is what else he stood for and did. I lived through Roger’s era here in the Mpls. are and remember them quite well. Additionally, a close friend was a drummer in the whole Paisley Park scene and he could really inform the Atlantic author.

Like I said, Prince said a lot of things. He was a strange dude and was no authority on morality by any standard I’d recognize.

He was the leading moral philosopher of our age and...kidding but still it nice to know he would confound much of his fanbase like that.

In the song Prince is singing to a girl and he’s saying that he’s the black version of Trump... NOT that he’s in love with Trump...

***I didn’t realize he also wrote “Nothing Compares 2U” which was a huge hit for Sinead O’Connor***

I’ve known since the song came out. If you just listen to the music and the lyrics you know it’s from him. Beautiful song.

“I think he actually adopted a lot of the persona of Little Richard. Likes the show and all outrageous.”

Yuo, he took a few pages of outrageousness out of Little Richard’s book and adopted a bit of Elvis in his reclusiveness.

I never paid much attention to Prince, but back in the days when he first slithered out of the popular cesspool, (about the same time Yuri Bezmenov was documenting the process of subversive demoralization) it was clear what he was selling.

Interesting blind gossip item that is likely about Prince.

My guess is that they are trying to decide what to do about revealing that he had AIDS. Just conjecture on my behalf.

A lot of Republicans are gay for Trump..

That was funny.

I have always liked Trump in general. He was audacious in a sense that he was just going to do what he wanted to do, and in his life he owned those choices.

Not saying I would agree with his choices, but I found that to be an attractive quality in a man.

But I don't think he's terribly conservative at all, especially with his recent 'I'd let Bruce Jenner in the ladies restrooms."

I’m thinking cardiac arrest.

His heart just finally gave up and stopped.

Same thing happened to my sister when she was like 40 years old...

Two of my favorite Prince moments are throwing Kim Kardashian off the stage and the epic lollipop moment that enraged Quincy Jones

They say he had the flu - but I didn’t see the coroner’s report. It might have been the flu. I don’t know.

Coroner's report? If a SCJ doesn't need an autopsy, neithr does a pop singer. Dead is dead.

Sex is great. You should try it. Maybe difficult for you to get a partner. I recommend a plastic doll for you.

I think he died of an overdose of opiates. He was in a great deal of pain from 40 years of energetic performances and his hips and joints were as damaged as any athlete his age - worse because he did it in high heels. That he died in an elevator suddenly may indicate an OD. Or it can be as simple an explanation as a heart attack.
