President Obama’s weekly remarks

Hello, everybody. Today, there are some 2.2 million people behind bars in America. Millions more are on parole or probation. All told, we spend $80 billion taxpayer dollars each year to keep people locked up.

Many are serving unnecessarily long sentences for non-violent crimes. Almost 60 percent have mental health problems. Almost 70 percent were regular drug users. And as a whole, our prison population is disproportionately black and Latino.

Prisons have become mental institutions.

Too many blacks and dark-skinned people commit crimes, and those who do get locked up.
Don’t let them out of prison to rape, rob and murder Whites.

Prisons have become mental institutions.

And, in the name of religious "tolerance", hotbeds of islamo-fascist indoctrination.

apparently too many liberals are in prison.

There’s never ever enough prisons for conservatives.

And the huge numbers of violent crimes committed by recidivists on parole, probation, or awaiting trial indicates we have too few people in prison, not too many.

Black males between the ages of 14-40 make up 3% of the population yet commit 40% of all the crime.

Hey! Dem is FACTS! FACTS be RAYCISS!

"Our criminal justice system imprisons too many criminals."

Maybe; maybe not.

But, certainly, it does not imprison enough politicians.

CA Prop 47 shows what happens under that theory. The police don’t even bother to come out if called on vandalism or burglary. Home crimes have increased dramatically, but nothing can be done about it. Homeowners have to install cameras, alarms, keep everything locked up tight and watch each other’s backs. Neighbor men have to go out together and tell vagrants to move on and stay away from the school route. This is Obama’s America.

Might help more if there weren’t so many laws that most people commit three felonies a day without even knowing it.

Well, most of the people being arrested and incarcerated break laws that harm other people. Most people don't go to jail for misdemeanors.

And the huge numbers of violent crimes committed by recidivists

I read an article on-line a year or so ago about the numbers of violent crimes committed by paroled or escaped prisoners. It wasn't a small number.

So when the anti-death penalty people start arguing about the "evil" death penalty, they should be reminded of how many innocent people have been murdered by escaped or paroled violent offenders.

I should add I came close to being a statistic due to a paroled violent offender about thirteen years ago. Some violent offender/nut on parole tried to kill me by ramming my car. If I had stepped outside my car instead of staying inside, he might have gotten me. As it was he just put a big dent in my car door.

Somehow we require a regime that requires more prisoners per capita than any other nation in the world, and this is a problem crying out as an open wound in the way our justice system works.

Obama thinks the criminal justice system imprisons too many criminals. In other words, they should be locking up innocent people too.

Let see! Saudi Arabia, they cut off the offending member, be it a hand, foot or another more sensitive appendage. Malaysia, they beat the criminal with bamboo canes.

Of course their prison populations are low. Executions seem to reduce the need for incarceration.

One last thought. If this concerns you so much, then you take these animals into your home and you be responsible for them. If they commit a crime under your care, then you do their punishment.

You believe that Saudi Arabia and Malaysia are the standards by which the United States should be compared?

Is that our baseline?

If it is, we may as well come flat out and admit that this is already a third-world country.

You are the one saying that we have too many people in jail. I am saying, if you have the ability to understand, that other countries might not have the incarceration rate per capita because they eliminate the problem people and therefore have lower per capita incarceration rate.

Furthermore, how do you know what I believe? What gives you the right to use such a typical liberal segway to get a facetious point across?

As I said, if you don't like the incarceration rate in this country, then you come up with a solution rather than just squawking about it.
