Obama: ‘Simply Locking People Up Doesn’t Make Communities Safer’
Breitbart News Network ^ | 23 Apr 2016 | Ian Hanchett

resident Obama argued that the US does not have more people in prison than any other developed country “because we have more criminals. It’s because we have criminal justice policies, including unfair sentencing laws, that need to be reformed.”

He added “simply locking people up doesn’t make communities safer” because “It doesn’t deal with the conditions that lead people to criminal activity in the first place, or to return to prison later.”

Uh, gee, Barack, the Atlanta child murders stopped abruptly when Whats’is-Name was locked up, and the Manson Family hasn’t murdered anyone else since they were incarcerated. Maybe you should rethink your position.

Based on this article, and the actions of Virginia’s governor, I just had a really bad thought, prefaced by a question: Can the President give out blanket pardons, and, if so, would the pardoned parties regain their voting rights?

Proof positive that Liberalism is a mental disorder, IMO.

Counting the days until we’re free of this scourge.

Remember when the communist Party was outlawed? It’s time to outlaw the Democrat Party.

how much crime would there be after ALL the people were gone?
= = =

The crime would be the same as before.

Democrats do not qualify as people.

On the contrary. Let us support Barack Hussein Obama. Let’s let all the felons he wants released go live with him and Michelle at the WH, immediately. Hundreds and thousands of them.

In the spirit of no guns, let’s remove all guns, rockets, missiles from the WH and surrounding areas, and all of his security detail should leave and take up McDonald’s jobs.

They can all live together and show us how amazing this all works out.

Oh, and let’s put them all under Obamacare while we’re at it.

Gee, now Obama can lead the way yet again.

Like all Leftists, Hussein blames the symptoms of crime, not the root causes: growth of the massive welfare state, destruction of the traditional two-parent family, epidemic illegitmate birth rates, banning of religion from the public square, media filth, teachers unions, unfettered illegal immigration, and the thug Leftists themselves.

Hussein knows this. Emptying the prisons is not about racial or social “justice,” it’s about power and creating fear, panic, anarchy, & societal collapse. Das Kapital, Saul Alinsky, Cloward-Piven, and Satan, anyone?

unfair sentencing laws

Like little or no incarceration for repeat offenders who end up murdering people? Worst is turning violent criminals loose pending trial and they do even more horrible things. Justice should be fair, but also swift and hard.

Having been an attorney for many years and deeply involved with criminal justice in rural “fly-over country,” I can assure you that no one was sent to jail who didn’t really need to go. Most Freepers would, upon review, say that the inmates were actually begging to be sent to jail, at least by their behavior.

Second or third chances to avoid incarceration? Try five to ten times before being sent to prison. If sent for a felony drug conviction, it was merely the tip of the iceberg of criminal history. It allowed them certain privileges and counseling once inside that a conviction for a violent crime would not, even though they were undoubtedly guilty of that, too.

We see this headline way too often:

Convicted murderer set free early for good behavior killed again months after his release

As I understand it, and I’m not a lawyer, the President’s power to pardon is pretty much absolute as far as Federal prisoners are concerned. He has no power over state prisoners. So Mexico can demand that the President stop Texas from executing a Mexican national, but the President doesn’t have that power.

Also, a pardon means the criminal offense is wiped clean, so all rights are restored. He also has the power to reduce sentences and thus set prisoners free, but the criminal record remains.
