Gov. Deval Patrick is reportedly on the short list of potential running mates for Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton and Bay State political analysts say he could be the perfect pick because he could help win over the partys progressive wing and shine in head-to-head debates.
I think hed be a terrific choice, said Philip Johnston, former chairman of the Massachusetts Democratic Party. He is viewed as a strong progressive, and I think he has great credibility with both Clinton and (Bernie) Sanders supporters.
The New York Times reported yesterday that Clintons advisers are compiling a list of 15 to 25 potential candidates for vice president that includes Patrick.
(snip) African-Americans overwhelmingly support the Democratic Party, Whalen said. Clinton has to weigh the pros and cons.

They are besties, Deval and Obama. I would like to see him say no, I will serve as VP for Sanders!! Because that is how left he is!
I put money onJulian Castro
Clinton doesn’t need bolstering in the Adrican American community.
Yeah, I was gonna say, “short list” sounds like how Howie Carr might have phrased it.
I can just see Trump going after “Crooked Hillary” and “Shortlist Deval”.
We’re gonna be fiiiiine.
We know one thing: the Dem’s VP candidate will not be a white male. We can surmise another: Hillary is running the numbers to decide whether she needs to shore up her black bloc, her women’s bloc, or her Hispanic bloc, and will VP accordingly. In the liberal world, all people are interchangeable, since they all stand in solidarity for whatever the Progressive Goal of the Week is.
Deval is probably Obama’s successor of choice. He will [reluctantly] support Hillary if she sets Deval up for a future Presidential run.
I’ve had the general impression that’s a radical leftist, but I’ve never paid all that much attention to him so I wasn’t sure. At first blush he seems like a strange pick because he doesn’t help shore up a swing state and she’s ostensibly good with the black community, but if he’s close to Obama his selection would make more sense.
Deval is a racist bigot of the highest order.
He headed Texaco’s Equality and Fairness Task Force, where he declared all Texaco employees were racists.
He will transform this country to a racially-charged atmosphere worse than Obama.
Makes perfect sense.
She needs a minority on the ticket for GOTV.
The community organizers will be “wink-winking” in the ‘hood about Hillary’s failing health.
Bingo, exactly what I was thinking. Coup Deval ,however, brings nothing to the table except his color
All the more reason to abandon the NeverTrump and/or NeverCruz way of thinking. NeverHilary is much better.
Great nickname for him, love that!
“How close is he to Obama?”
Devaluate’s campaign was a test run for Obozo’s. Axelrod ran Devaluate’s campaign and came up with the slogan, “Yes, we can”.
Sound familiar?
I forgot to mention the Chicago connection.
So how close is this son of a bitch to Obama?
We didn’t refer to him as “LiL’ Barry” for nothing.
Yes the Deval version was Together We Can, or more accurately Together We Scam

>>The charismatic, brilliant, inspiring black politician came to the stage to address the latest attack from his white female opponent.
“Her dismissive point, and I hear it a lot from her staff, is all I have to offer is words,” he said. “Just words.
“’We holds these truths to be self-evident,’” he continued as the crowd began to cheer and applaud, “’that all men are created equal’ — just words. Just words.”
The applause increased.
“’We have nothing to fear but fear itself,’” the pol said. “Just words. ‘Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.’ Just words,’” he said, switching effortlessly from our Founding Fathers to FDR to JFK.
And then, the piece de resistance: “’I have a dream’ — just words,” he said.
Barack Obama rebutting Hillary Clinton circa 2008?
Nope. Deval Patrick, ultimately successful Massachusetts gubernatorial candidate, responding to then-Lt. Gov. Kerry Healey in October 2006.
Of course, if you mistook the speech for one from Obama, you can be forgiven — just this weekend Obama said something quite similar.
“Don’t tell me words don’t matter,” Obama said to Wisconsin Democrats. “’I have a dream’ — just words. ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal’ — just words. ‘We have nothing to fear but fear itself’ - just words. Just speeches.”
Since last year, observers have been noting that rhetorical similarities between the two candidates with vaguely similar biographies and campaign pitches — who also share political guru David Axelrod.
Can you imagine the absolute hell of being Hillary Clinton’s VP?
.bingo!
Heaven help us.
