In Maine, Ted Cruz Outmaneuvers Donald Trump Again on Delegates
NBC News ^ | apr.24, 2016 | Mark Murray

Posted on 04/24/2016 4:56:54 PM PDT by Innovative

Nineteen of Cruz's slate of 20 delegates were picked for the Republican national convention, meaning that at least 19 out of the 23 delegates Maine will send to the convention in Cleveland will be Cruz supporters — which would benefit the Texas senator if the Republican presidential-selection process goes to multiple ballots.

Back in March, Cruz won Maine's caucus contest, grabbing 12 pledged delegates — versus nine for Donald Trump and two for John Kasich. The delegates who were chosen in Maine are bound to reflect that allocation on the first ballot of voting.

But if no presidential candidate wins a majority of the 2,472 delegates, then many of these reps would be free to support the candidate of their choice after a first round of voting at the convention.

I hope Trump gets the needed 1237 EVs on the first ballot, to avoid any of such planned manipulations.

Trump said today he doesn’t care about Cruz’s thievery.

Trump only cares about the first vote, ‘cuz that’s all there is going to be.

Trump takes it.

Most of the want-to-be delegate types are overly political people. They’re GOPe types that don’t care about what voters think.

Poor Cruzers, forced to latch onto nothing stories as this for any hope, as their man free-falls in the polls and on betting/prediction sites, and is staring down another 0-5 performance in a couple of days.

The media knows full well that these delegates are bound on the first ballot, and there will not be a second. They put out these headlines for the low-information crowd, as drama and intrigue over a close, in-doubt race is better for clicks.

I don’t think Cruz is exactly out maneuvering Trump in these states. The establishment in these states is letting Cruz have his delegates as part of an attempt to stop Trump on a second ballot. I doubt Cruz is that strong in a place like Maine without the party bosses’ help. I’m sure the Maine GOP had not been planning to back Ted Cruz until a last minute plan.

Ted reminds me of some poor miserable old lady rummaging around through trash receptacles to find aluminum cans.

As many years as she does it, she never has enough to be a real winner.

Poor thing...

The Governor of the state said that there was an agreement between all 3 campaigns, which, of course, "Lyin' Ted Cruz" reneged on.

Ted Cruz has no honor...
