Ted Cruz, John Kasich join forces to stop Donald Trump

Ted Cruz and John Kasich issued startling statements Sunday night about their paths ahead, the first sign the two campaigns are coordinating to deny Donald Trump the Republican presidential nomination.

Within minutes of each other, the pair issued statements saying they will divide their efforts in upcoming contests with Cruz focusing on Indiana and Kasich devoting his efforts to Oregon and New Mexico. The strategy is aimed at blocking Trump from gaining the 1,237 delegates necessary to claim to GOP nomination this summer.

Your analogy does not apply. A boxing match is a two-man fight, the primary is a multi-candidate race. You don’t know how the primary would go if there were only 2 candidates in it.

The general election also includes every potential voter, not just registered Republicans.

Yes, Cruz will back-stab Kasich once Indiana is over :)

Cruz doesn’t have much to backstab over. He gave up OR and NM, which are proportional with 52 delegates total. Indiana has 57 and is winner take all. So Cruz might gain 57, and lose maybe only 15 of the 52. Cruz made a great trade for himself here.

Cruz’s support base here in North Texas is right up there with Hillary’s and both are moving in the wrong direction.

>>In 2008, even Hillary gave path to Obama, when it became mathematically she can’t win.

That’s because Democrats run for president to BE president.

The GOPe runs for president to say that they lost because the voters didn’t contribute enough money, but the robocallers will be out right after the big loss to start collecting for the next election.

It looks like the Bush family hijacked the conservative movement with their “Trojan Horse” Ted Cruz. OK Cruzers try and convince us your man isn’t bought and paid for by the establishment now.

When Cruz embraced the BLM language against Trump in Chicago, I knew who his masters were

You can oppose Cruz for the presidency if you want, but all this talk that he should be primaried out of the Senate is just horrible. He’s a genuine Tea Party conservative who’s done great work for our side in the Senate.

He's done "great work" when it was easy for him. When the rubber meets the road, though, he shows his true colors, swerving off the highway onto the off ramp for Exit GOPe. He's a GOPer in Tea Party clothing in other words. He is an arrogant jackass who acts out of self-interest rather than any interest of the conservative movement.

But what they do not seem to realize is that if they keep pushing their gravy train ideas they will totally derail the GOP and there will be a new party arising from their selfishly created chaos.

We can only hope...

This is broadcast by CNN so it gets wide coverage. Wouldn’t one think the voters in Indiana, New Mexico and Oregon would see this and react negatively by not voting for either Cruz or Kasich?

I wonder if there is a strategy to leave the name of Kasich off the Indiana ballot so the GOPe supporters will have only one choice so as not to divide the vote, and the opposite in N.M. and Oregon...

It is multi billion dollar industry, and it is fighting for its life. My only question is who will be the nominee. None of the three in the news today will be left.

You're making an assumption that the vast majority of voters for one will go to the other. That might be a flawed hypothesis.

Trump is campaigning strongly against the rigged, corrupt system. What Cruz and Kasich are doing substantiates that claim. A more honest, open approach would be for one to drop out and decide to either endorse or not endorse someone else.

But he never gave Kasich a nickname. Even now.... How could Little Marco play second fiddle with any self-respect?
