Donald J. Trump Foreign Policy Speech
Thank you for the opportunity to speak to you, and thank you to the Center for the National Interest for honoring me with this invitation.
I would like to talk today about how to develop a new foreign policy direction for our country – one that replaces randomness with purpose, ideology with strategy, and chaos with peace.
It is time to shake the rust off of America’s foreign policy. It's time to invite new voices and new visions into the fold.
The direction I will outline today will also return us to a timeless principle. My foreign policy will always put the interests of the American people, and American security, above all else. That will be the foundation of every decision that I will make.
America First will be the major and overriding theme of my administration.
But to chart our path forward, we must first briefly look back.

What an amazing speech. America first! As far as I’m concerned, anyone still following Cruz is trying to help the GOPe sabotage this great country and is completely feckless. That’s as nicely as I can say it!

The speech matches what he’s said at rallys. I think he’s perfectly capable of writing his own speeches.

It was reported that the draft was written by staff and Trump edited. The speech sounds like classic Trump all the way with the exception of a few turns of phrase that may have been penned by others.
It is safe to say that basic foreign policy ideals in the speech are not new to those of us following Trump.
I’m not arguing with you, just stating some unpleasant facts about what might happen in 2016 election cycle...
If we do lose the Senate, do you really think people like Chuckie, Pelosi, Patty Murray, etc will roll over for Trump....?

I watched the speech and it was great!
I was equally divided between Cruze and Trump in the middle of this primary. Voted for Cruz last minute inside the boot, thinking about the Supreme Court nomination, but since then I am more and more for Trump. Most of these policies were mentioned before in small bits in several speeches and answers he had, and now it was nice to hear all put together in a cohesive speech. Finally, it is good to be reassured that Trump is a true patriot who puts the wellbeing of America and its citizens first. I can’t wait to see the Hildabeast destroyed by Trump during the general election!
I expect he will get inside her head like a rabid squirrel in the attic.
You are the only one who posted a negative comment about this speech to me. Where’s the foreign policy speech by any other candidate in the race?? Like nowhere. THAT is what is “pretty thin on details”.

What a magnificent speech. Every word is simple truth.
I don’t know if I’ve seen anything like that speech in my lifetime. I voted for Reagan but never saw any of his speeches. I think Trump wrote it himself - which makes it even better.
