Trump Beat Cruz at His Own Organizational Game in Pennsylvania
NYMag ^ | Ed Kilgore

Posted on 04/28/2016 4:08:17 AM PDT by RoosterRedux

On April 19, NBC News reported the Cruz campaign was bragging that its organizational wizardry would enable the Texan to pick up a lot of Pennsylvania's 57 unbound delegates on April 26 — delegates that were elected at the congressional district level with no indication on the ballot of their presidential candidate preferences. Indeed, Cruz's Keystone power was supposedly why he was spending the evening of April 19 in that state rather than personally witnessing his drubbing in New York that night.

"He'll be in Philly for his watch party tonight," NBC's Hallie Jackson said. "That's indicative of where he and his campaign see this race going, to Pennsylvania, where they are looking to make a play for these unbound delegates. Even if they come in a distant third, a top campaign aide tells me, they will still, they believe, pick up more than half the delegates there."

"They're looking at more than 30," she reported.

Well, as it happened, Cruz did better than a "distant third" in Pennsylvania yesterday. He was a distant second to Donald Trump with about 22 percent of the vote to Donald Trump's 57 percent and John Kasich's 19 percent. As expected, Trump won all 17 of the statewide delegates. But at the congressional district level, Cruz did not win more than half the unbound delegates, and certainly didn't win "more than 30." According to another NBC report after the primary, Cruz won two. And the big winner was the organizationally inept — or so it was thought — Mr. Trump.

Trump is either an egomaniac adrenaline and testosterone junkie or a once in a millennium genius who is in the right place at the right time for the right reason.

I dunno. I don’t wear a tunic, have a beard, or walk with a staff and sandals.

What the hell do I know?

What happened to you?

Every Blair we know has been republican, and those still alive are for Trump!

How many other Blairs do you know? :-)

Besides Tony, Paul and me?

Paul Blair was a great centerfielder. Not sure if he was a Republican.

And the 12 (or 18? I forget) from the Virgin Islands.

Oh, did you see the latest Oregon poll? Cruz ceded OR to Kay-sick, and Kay-sick is now 3rd. Trump is at 43%, huge lead.

They’ve been the rules. Look back on history and contested nominations. Reagan lost to Ford because he didn’t have the organization. Lincoln beat Seward, just to throw out some names you recognize. About time Trump started playing instead of whining.

Who earned and honestly won the delegates where there was a legitimate election? Donald Trump

Trump votes:__ 892,706..56.74%
17 100.00%. hard delegates
31 57.41% soft delegates
48 67.61% total delegates

Cruz votes:__340,206 21.62%
4 delegates

Stealing is where Cruz has 4 members of his leadership team who are also a Cruz delegate or an alternate vote against a primary election because they happen to be elected Colorado state senators.

Stealing is where the republican party cancels the straw poll so the caucus precinct level is purely of entertainment value.

Stealing is when Trump is polling 44% and Cruz 34%, yet you have no election, no poll, only seat your own candidates delegates 100% for Cruz.

That is defrauding the voters, precinct committeemen and women. That’s a delegation that deserves to be unseated and penalized for 2020.

This article acts like it is inscrutable how Trump won these delegates. Corey and the local organization in the state recruited Trump supporters to run as delegates ages ago. On top of that Trump’s website listed the “Trump slate” of delegates that the campaign wanted people to vote for, so it wasn’t really that hard to find (not to mention Hannity publishing a list of how the delegates would vote and other websites also carrying that information). Trump even mentioned the delegates and held up the list at his two final PA rallies. There were some reports on TV of volunteers handing out delegate lists in front of some precincts’ polling places too.

Folks, you have to see this article. This guy gets it. Rush referenced him the other day, but didn’t quite know what to make of him. He absolutely gets Trump, but more importantly, the key position in the culture war that Trump plays.

Great article LS. Rush probably would rather deny this article than digest it.

Of course he’s the culture. He is us. Hillary Clinton is not remotely like us. Obama....? Who?

Trump gets it. He’s hip... He know what is was like when Kennedy was killed and 911.

He knows about the Boston/Yankee series to the Indiana/NC series when Bobby KNight stuffed Michael.

He knows everyone, and everyone will say they know him, even Whoopie.

Everyone is embarrassed to wear the hat, and to acknowledge him, but inside they are for him....

If this country elects a Hillary Clinton... then it’s over Folks... This country, as we know it... is unrecognizable. It’s over.

In our life times we will see then invaders... into our schools, jobs and hospitals....

There is nothing American about Hillary Clinton... nothing or Cruz...

Trump is us... Trumps is us ... Trump is us...

Trump is a very quick learner.

Cruz believes his own lies and hype.

Hillary is the smartest woman in the world — because they said so.
Obama is always the smartest guy in the room — because they said so.
Ted Cruz is staggeringly brilliant — because they said so.

Trump never claims to be a super genius and the media never proclaim him to be a super genius. But his accomplishments sure speak for themselves.

When the media declares someone to be smart — run away. Instead, look at what someone has actually done in the real world to determine if they might be above average. Hint: Virtually no politicians register as above average, because they just screw stuff up worse than it was screwed up before. That’s practically their job description because it justifies more intervention by brilliant politicians.

Time for a change.

“Looks like the Trump ground game team gets up to speed rather quickly...ping.”

I have been saying this from the beginning. I like Cruz, but as a realist I know Trump is the presumptive nominee and there isn’t a thing anyone can do to stop him. The best part of Cruz staying in the race was to push Trump to up his game, so when the time came for Trump to face Hillary, he would be ready.

Looks like he is ready. Hate Cruz or love Cruz, without him in the race, Trump wouldn’t have worked as hard as we saw in the early primaries.
