I remember when the two dollar bill was re-introduced in 1976, after Carter ended up President in November, the joke was that the two dollar bill would be real convenient for buying a dollar’s worth of gas.

At least it has Thomas Jefferson’s portrait on it, if it was up to Obama, it would be George Jefferson.

Actually it was the age of the bill, 1953, that when the pen they run across to see if it is counterfeit did not produce the correct results.

Bill looks old and torn. The more recent two dollar bills have the Signing of the Declaration of Independence on the reverse. The painting by Trumbull. The one in dispute has Monticello, Thomas Jefferson's estate

“SHOULD KNOW BETTER, ESPECIALLY IF THEY ARE COLLEGE EDUMACATED”

Don’t get me started. I explain to college grads that the license plate holder on their car which states “I’m an alumni of....” is the masculine plural of the word. You are either an alumnus (masculine singular) or an alumna (feminine singular). A minor point to be sure, but reading Latin was a requirement of colleges back in the real old days.

I once witnessed an argument at the post office where the Clark was insisting that shipping to New Mexico was an international transaction.

Well, I do cross the Rio Grande twice on workdays in my commute. My journey is mostly east/west, though, and the crossing occurs within the Albuquerque city limits.

I have 2 of them in my wallet right now... they are the last works of art left in circulation.... every other bill has been turned into monopoly money.

We thought the $2 bills were stupid at the time.

And used the saying, "Queer as a three-dollar bill."

Nahh, worth $2, the bill’s in horrible shape, tears along the edge, and well creased. I can actually see some concern over the bill, but seriously, it is $2, put the bill in the register and let someone else deal with it later.

I distinguish between this and cases like Dennys. If Denny’s is just crappy and in reality treating blacks no worse than anyone else, then my sympathy is with them and I don’t think they should be sued (they’re private citizens doing what private citizens do).

Now, when a state actor does something bad or stupid or negligent, that’s another matter. It was their idea to subsist on my tax dollars and not produce a tangible thing of value (though performing a service that helps society function), so they better know what they’re doing. The fact that the victim is black in this particular case is, given today’s political climate, just a convenient vector for well-deserved misery.

IOW, if both victim and perpetrator are private entities, apply common sense in determining culpability. If the victim is a private entity and the perpetrator is a state actor, apply strict scrutiny.

I’ve got 6 of these in my safe deposit box. For the kids when I pass.

Not that the internet is always the most reliable place to get information, but I was able to Google this in 15 seconds.

I notice that the bill in question has the date 6/9/62 written in pencil on the obverse. Probably been in someone’s sock drawer a long time. The current $2 bill is Series 2003 A.

Sorry, that date in the upper left is not an issue date, but apparently someone’s hand-written note. My mistake.

About a year ago, the guy in front of me in a convenience store paid for his purchase with six $2 bills. I ended up buying them from the cashier (one 2003A, 2 1995, and 3 2009). Two of the ‘09s were consecutive serial numbers.

I assume they’re not worth anything over face, but they’re neat just to have.

It’s the movie “Idiocracy”. The idiots are reproducing faster than the intelligent people and the national IQ is dropping.
