I have a somewhat different take on that than you, it seems.

This was from way back. The problem is, person after person is picked to serve the President. And person after person leaves in disgust or is fired. I have never seen such a revolving door. Just 32 months into the Trump administration, the rate of turnover had exceeded his five predecessors' full first terms, in total. This is INCREDIBLE. What the hell is/was going on ??!! When were in business, when we had top executives hired and repeatedly fired or leaving in disgust this showed us one of two things. A) The ultimate hiring authority (in this case the President himself) is a poor judge of character and screening to make so many repeated mistakes, OR on the other hand, B) the problem is actually with the person at the top with such an incessant revolving door.

Is it at all these people hired, 40 or 50 top conservative and/or Republican intelligence, defense, national security officials across the board over four years with impeccable professional credentials across the board are all defects? You reach the end of the law of averages on this one, in my estimate. I think history will eventually be a big judge on this one. I know from my own experience we came THIS close to major war here in Asia by foolishness and we were brought back from the abyss by people who could disarm and cool down things.

I'm no blind Trump booster. What Mattis and the others did was slimy and revealed that the swamp is a real thing. Notice that such things never happen to Democrats. Ask yourself why.
