Senator Ted Cruzs supporters are mounting an effort to seize control of the Republican platform and the rules governing the partys July convention, the first indication that Mr. Cruz will not simply hand his delegates over to Donald J. Trump.
In an email sent Sunday to pro-Cruz convention delegates, a top aide to the Texas senator wrote that it was still possible to advance a conservative agenda at the convention.
To do that, it is imperative that we fill the Rules and Platform Committees with strong conservative voices like yours, wrote Ken Cuccinelli, who was the campaigns former delegate wrangler and a former attorney general of Virginia. That means you need to come to the national convention and support others in coming, too!
Mr. Cruz is planning a Monday evening conference call where, as Mr. Cuccinelli writes, Mr. Cruzs former officials plan to discuss what we can do at the convention to protect against liberal changes to our platform, and how we can right the wrongs in the rules from 2012!

Are you still pushing the LIE that Trump spoke of shooting someone ***in the face***??? Who needs Dems, when we have so called conservatives lying to make our candidate look as bad as possible?
Here is Cruz’ own tweet pushing mass legalization. It’s a globalist’ dream come true:
9:37 AM - 19 Jun 2013
We need to secure the border. Any bill this body passes should have border security first & then legalization. Not the other way around.
For some Cruz reality, see post 81.
Right now we have to focus on first things first: nominate Trump, beat Hillary.
“Rules and Platform Committees”
If Cruz wants to work for strong conservative planks in the party platform, more power to him. Trump needs to be reminded daily of who brung him to this here dance and what we want.
Rules committee? Cruz backers?
No way Jose.
Cruz and his Dominionists in control of the rules at the convention is insane #NEVERCRUZ
If Cruz wants any influence at convention he can support the Republican nominee Donald Trump, otherwise I don’t even want Cruz at convention. #BEGONECRUZ!
I said it before and I will say it again. Cruz has more tricks up his sleeve. He will not go down easily. His supporters on FB who are Facebook friends of mine, are very quiet lately, and I am suspicious since some of them are well known in AZ politics and are friends with him.
What would keep Cruz people from changing the rules to throw out the first vote and go straight to the second?
That’s why we thought Cruz or other people would help Trump to do the right things and steer him in the correct direction. And then I think that Cruz would be able to win and do what he wants. But this is not the right away.
Yes, I’m a pathetic loser, but I want to make the rules.
Time for Cruz to settle into retirement and irrelevancy.

I want Mr. Trump to BUILD A WALL BETWEEN THE DELEGATES AND “LYIN’ TED”!!!!
Cruzers don't actually care about conservatism, otherwise they would reject Cruz as scum due to lying about his position on amnesty for more than a year. Cruz is the sort of "conservative" who only conserves the wealth of the Chamber of Commerce goons and Goldman Sachs. Politico also reported Cruz's team wanted to make it so that delegates are not bound on a first ballot for the 2020 elections. Cruz probably hopes Trump will lose, then he can steal the election in 2020 by stacking his supporters as delegates contrary to the will of the voters.
I was speaking only to the ‘Trump rested on the seventh day’ meme. If you could but be in my place five minutes, you’d know how A, false and B, wearisome it is.
The first time I was accused of worshipping Trump I responded, aghast and in unspeakable horror, that I worship God only. Around the five-hundredth time I was so accused, I didn’t even notice it anymore.
I only responded to your comment because, if we’re going to unite, it would be helpful to drop the Trump is...(can’t even type it without feeling blasphemous, but the word starts with ‘g’ and ends with ‘d’) theme. Of Trump supporters, probably 99.999999 see him as a flawed human, but also as a rock solid patriot who will put America first. The idea of worshipping him/comparing him to the Divinity never occurs to them/us.

The 112 member Rules Committee will meet the week before the Convention to adopt the
proposed rules for the 2016 convention. The proposed rules will be one of the first orders
of business for the convention. What the convention adopts is yet to be seen.
It's frustrating, dealing with the "my way or the highway" mindset.
Trump won by winning less than 50% of the Republican primary vote. I humbly suggest Trump won't win a thing in November if he is relying on disaffected Bernie voters to take up the slack.
The "Lyin Ted" memes are counterproductive IMHO. Still, your guy won, congratulations.
Agree. I too will wait in casting judgement on putting America first upon his time in office. It is one thing to say a catchy campaign slogan and believe (as most do) it is altogether something else to put those words into action. Yes he is accomplished and yes he has done a great many things (business-wise). However Washington does strange things to people when people get there. My reservation isn’t Trumps fault or anything he did. It has to do with ANYONE who has run, promised to moon and sold us short each and every time.
Trust but verify ;-)
Cruz is going to do everything he can to remain relevant and rebuild his BRAND. That is what is behind this move of his.
He had plenty of time in Congress to advance causes - but what conservative changes occurred due to his work? I cannot think of one.
He knows that he imploded in spectacular fashion. He knows that his mask has been torn away. He knows that many people now feel he intentionally hid his Canadian birth, and most people who voted him into office would have had a problem with that had they known.
He knows that he will likely not be voted in again unless he can stay relevant and put out some actual “conservative” creds. This is a good, and EASY, way for him to do that.
I’m not a numbers person, but is Trump not racking up millions more votes than former GOP nominees? I know the meme is, ‘So what if he can pack 31,000 supporters into a venue, with thousands more outside unable to get in; he’s just not that popular,’ but I have my doubts. People are lining the streets in advance of Trump’s rallies, just to get a glimpse if/wave and shout support at his vehicle. This is not typical for a primary.
Speaking of Cruz’ lies. I just got through with a multi-day, dozens-of-posts-discussion with a Cruz supporter re one of Cruz’ more egregious lies. It was like talking to a wall. If the Cruz supporter’s fundamental presupposition is, ‘Cruz doesn’t lie,’ then evidence of the latter bounces off like rain on Turtle-wax.
yep
