Dozens of Methodist clergy members took a stand for equality on Monday in the hope that their church will re-evaluate discriminatory policies toward lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals during its 2016 General Conference, which begins on Tuesday.
More than 100 pastors, deacons, elders and candidates for ministry in the United Methodist Church released a letter publicly coming out as LGBT just one day before the churchs top policy-making body convenes in Portand to consider roughly 1,000 legislative petitions.

United was dead a long time ago. By the end there will only be a few left standing. Keep your eyes on the prize.
Numbers must be down like the Catholic church taking in illegals.
Make hay while the sun shines.
He is watching.
The UMC went squishy on the idea of moral impediments to being in ministry a long time ago. I know of clergy who have been married and divorced multiple times. I know of clergy couples who left their spouses to marry each other. The LGBT stuff has been bubbling for decades. I don’t know how in the the long run the UMC can stand against that, or wants to stand against that, since they have already undermined the moral authority of their ministry.
Yep, John Wesley would be appalled.
The four stages of apostasy:
Outrage > Tolerance > Acceptance > Practice
The UMC, ELCA, PECUSA/TEC, Presbyterians, Unitarians, etc. are at stage 4 now. Those “churches” are lost causes; Satan is in complete control.
There are myriad reasons why I left the Methodist Church.....or should I say it left me?
Now we know why Hedley Lamarr wanted them.
Whats wrong with Liquor Guns Bacon and Ti... er.. boobs?
My late Uncle was a lifelong, devout Lutheran who left the church when it started ordaining homosexual ministers.
Sorry - my bad - I see it’s United Methodist.
Methodism says “Catch the Spirit”, but what are they catching now?
They want the hapless “conservatives” and “moderates” to keep up the contributions to fund the operation.
I know this gay guy that attends an Episcopal Church. He said most everyone there is gay. I guess there’s comfort in numbers?
I guess that explains why they were pushing so hard to make sexual deviancy part of their religion.
I know of one denomination for sure that is reliably conservative in every way and will never change its teachings: Independent Baptist.
I would have though most Episcopalians were rich widows.
I would have though most Episcopalians were rich widows.
One in my Alabama town is where all the gays go. I am not sure where the rich widows go.
Yeah, no kidding. They love the $$$$$$. I know. I attend one. Know a lot of people who will quit if our particular church adopts what the bishops are selling. The new minister appears to be a ‘company man’ and will ‘do what he’s told’. Before that, our ministers were quite independent and conservative. The thing about Methodism......we have a big ‘turnover’ of ministers. ‘Horseback’, etc.. We live in a very conservative area.
