Exclusive — Rand Paul Supports Donald Trump as Nominee: ‘I Stand by That Pledge’
Breitbart.com ^ | 17 May 2016 | Mathew Boyle

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) told Breitbart News he will honor his pledge to support the presumptive 2016 GOP presidential nominee, Donald Trump, in the general election against former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton—the likely Democratic nominee—in November. Paul, along with every other 2016 GOP presidential candidate, signed a pledge that they would back the nominee in the general election.

“I took a pledge when I ran for president to not run as an independent candidate and to support the Republican nominee,” Paul said. “I stand by that pledge, and I think that anybody who signs their word to a document ought to take it seriously before they sign a document. So I don’t think there’s any question that those who signed the document ought to say, ‘you know what? I honor the pledge.’”

Several others, like Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), former Texas Gov. Rick Perry, former Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, Dr. Ben Carson and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, have followed through on their pledges to support Trump as the nominee. Others, like former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and former Hewlett Packard CEO Carly Fiorina and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), have yet to do so. Now that Trump has won and he has lost, Bush has said he does not intend to back Trump over Clinton.

I have done a lot of research on Rand Paul and this is who I hope Trump picks as his VP...

Paul is in the Senate, has bills that have passed, seems to be well liked by everyone, knows the workings of what needs to be done, if Trump picks Newt as his Advisor, Paul has worked with Newt, and it would be a good fit..

Paul speaks his mind and he is a decent person, could move right in to POTUS should something happen to Trump...Paul didn’t slam Trump hard in the debates and Trump didn’t slam Paul back, this could be the reason Paul has been so quite...

I could support a Trump/Paul ticket...

“Seems Fiorina has completely disappeared.”

Did she ever make it out of that airport, after being dispatched by Trump in Indiana?

Rand Paul will forever be held in higher regard than Lying “I break pledges and promises” Ted.
Same for Rubio, Bush, Kasick, Lindsay, Carly and the rest of Cruzlims establishment butt-hurt buddies.

Rand Paul is a good guy with some sophomoric ideas that he should have reasoned himself away from before his mid-twenties, at the latest.

Rand Paul is Newt’s harshest critic. He was all over the media during the 2012 primaries warning against Newt’s class-warfare attacks against Romney. And it was righteous criticism. Newt did more than anyone to destroy Romney during that election. And this was when it was a foregone conclusion that Romney would be the nominee.

I could support Rand because he genuinely is for smaller government (read less intrusive in our lives).

“Newt did more than anyone to destroy Romney during that election. And this was when it was a foregone conclusion that Romney would be the nominee.”

Newt SHOULD have been destroying Romney, but Romney’s attacks had destroyed Newt in FL.

I still think Rand is a snot-nosed brat, but I’m glad to see he’s a man of his word.
