Target in PANIC after getting terrible news
Allenbwest.com ^ | May 18, 2016

Target’s stock had been dented since the American Family Association’s boycott began amassing signatures in the millions, but we obviously had no way of knowing if people were actually boycotting the store.

Before everyone shouts. Look at other retail stocks and see if they are down or up. It may not have been a good quarter for most retail stocks

It was unwise of them even from a secular point of view, because it assails one of the final fig-leaves of sexual integrity in the USA. With marriage gone, traditionalists are now fighting like the proverbial cornered rat. The corner wouldn’t have meant all that much to the rat — nobody ever expected a public bathroom area to be a refined place — but that is all the rat has now.

That said, I think conservative America has in fact been way too lax for its own good about the status of sexuality as a divine gift. It played fast and loose. Now it is defending bathrooms, something that the bible says little about — except things like do it outside the camp.

I hope that somehow, out of this springs a new resolve for all of America — not just the “scoundrels” of the society — to get right with God.

It won't even take a formal boycott. When public restrooms and dressing rooms aren't gender specific, they're not going to be a comfort zone for most women. As far as those Target dressing rooms are concerned? It's yet another reason to shop on line, and try on clothes in the privacy of ones own home. OF COURSE it will affect retail stores that target families.

It's interesting to gauge ones own reactions. For some long drives a few weeks ago and also for going to the movies, I found myself timing liquid consumption so I wouldn't have to use public restrooms.

speculate that over 1.2 million boycotters have had an effect.

I suspect that 1.2 million is just the ones who signed the petition. Many many more have developed some discomfort at the prospect of going back into that store and go to WalMart instead but they don't sign petitions. I don't ever sign petitions but I am irrelevant to this because I don't go into Target, ever, for other reasons.

Any of you Freepers believe this is an amazing coincidence?

I haven't been to target since they announced their restroom accommodations for sickos.

That said...

Caution, I just got two Malwarebytes notifications after I went to the site.

Any computer whizzes to confirm?

But to shareholders it can have the same effect.

Good. They can be thrown into the ash heap like JC Penney.

Let’s also remember this is a quarterly report and the insane policy of TargetWomen&Children is not even a month old

The effect of the boycott would only be a small percentage of this last quarter since it began only about the last month of the quarter. I understand Target is down a bit more than other retailers, but an entire quarter of a boycott will show itself by persistently lower sales.

I pretty much gave up on Target after the credit card fiasco a while back. I’d go with my wife on occasion and strictly on a cash basis.

I didn’t go that much before then. I believe in spreading my business around some, but now, they have nothing to offer.

It took six months to a year to bring JC Penney to its knees.

I haven't been to target since they kicked out the Salvation Army at Christmas.

What? The perverts don’t spend enough to cover this loss? That’s pretty expensive bathroom admission.

Well TGT is down because they reported bad quarterly results, but the company is telling investors that this had nothing to do with any boycott, but because of normal business fluctuations.

Target closed it’s Canada operations last year and fired the guy who initiated it, which caused the stock to go into the tank in Febr. of this year (almost as low as it is now). Then the stock rallied but has again fallen off for reasons that we would disagree with the company about. There is a potential class action suit planned that blames the poor results and losses in stock value on a host of distribution channel and infrastructure problems:
http://finance.yahoo.com/news/shareholder-alert-faruqi-faruqi-llp-161211731.html

I encourage the boycott of Target over their insane policies but am trying to keep it real by pointing out that this is not acknowledged (yet) by anyone to be the cause of their poor financial performance.

With time and diligence in boycotting the store, clearly it will have impact that cannot be denied.

Trump has been very clear that he has no time for the PC thought police. Don't confuse his side-stepping of landmines during the campaign for the tone that will be emanating from the White House once he's in office. This is not a hill to die on in a campaign, but it is symptomatic of the sort of excesses that will be addressed. Trump is smart enough to know that you can't fix social issues until you fix the economic issues. Prosperity does wonders for restoring confidence and common sense throughout society.

You're going to see the Federal regulatory machinery switched into reverse pronto and get the Feds out of many areas of life that they had no business being in in the first place while at the same time engaging on the global stage to advance American interests in ways that have been sorely lacking for many years.
