Arizona GOP Senator John McCain’s reelection campaign is lashing out with negative attacks against his Republican primary opponent, State Senator Dr. Kelli Ward, as new polling shows trouble for McCain’s attempt for a sixth Senate term.
A new poll from Public Policy Polling (PPP) shows Dr. Ward and Senator McCain tied at 41 percent in a head-to-head matchup. The poll has even more bad news for McCain, showing the aging Senator with just a 35 percent approval among Republican primary voters.
With such high negatives, it’s no surprise McCain’s campaign would shift from ignoring Ward to attacking her. Their goal, obviously, is to make Ward more unpopular than McCain and hope that the anti-McCain vote doesn’t coalesce behind the energetic State Senator with a proven conservative record in Arizona’s statehouse.
A campaign mailer sent to Arizona primary voters from McCain’s campaign obtained by Breitbart News features a scary looking jihadist and attempts to insinuate that Dr. Ward is the candidate of choice for terrorists.

I’ll vote against McCain on Aug 30th...and in November, if needed. For McCain, I make an exception to my “No Democrat” vote pattern in general elections.

He has defended our enemies, and covered up for them.
John instead of keeping us in the Middle east dying so the Arabs could gouge us at the pump, and plot against and kill Americans. Maybe we should use our energy resources to be independent and balance our budget with the savings from endless Arab wars.

I hope AZ has a sore loser law. Otherwise McCain will run as an independent ala Murkowski.
I believe Jake Javits ran as the Liberal nominee in the 1980 general election too, but he finished third. Even New York finally tired of Javits though D’Amato proved a disappointment as well.
If he loses the primary he becomes irrelevant.
I don't see that as being worrisome to Trump, or particularly helpful to Hillary. Let the old fart do what he will, Trump will pick him up and use him as a club to bludgeon Hillary with. Lots of connections there, with foreign entanglements that went sideways.
I love the fact she has fleshed-out policy stances on her website. Here’s hoping she doesn’t catch swamp fever in DC.
Ironic - able to go negative to try to save his Senate seat but refused when fighting for the far more important WH seat.....Paling must have felt like she’d never see most men as actual men after that campaign.......It takes a Todd....
