I just Googled “Horse Cave KY” a while ago and it had links to a couple of news reports saying the people had all gotten out safely. One was WBKO. They were out by 4:30 p.m. (I think that would be Central Time—that county is in the Central Time Zone but very close to the border with the Eastern Time Zone).

Does look interesting, very different than what most people envision. Bet the water level rose very quickly.

When we were there, the guides said it was really spooky how fast the water could rise. When you go down there you can see what they mean. It feels like a catch basin for the area.

My grandmother used to play near the mouth of the cave when she was a little girl before it became a national park. I don’t know if she was relations with some of the people who owned the cave land before then.

The name kind of implies that it’s one big cave. They’ve mapped out 300 miles of the interconnected cave system and are nowhere near done exploring it.
