Trump's Decision To Debate Sanders In California Is His Most Genius Move Yet
Zerohedge ^ | May 27, 2016 | Tyler Durden

If the Trump/Sanders debate proceeds as planned in California, you’re about to witness one of the most important moments of a 2016 general election that hasn’t even begun yet. To say such a debate would be an unmitigated disaster for Hillary Clinton would be the understatement of the century. Let’s explore why.

First of all, Hillary Clinton outright rejected a debate request from Bernie Sanders ahead of the June 7th California primary. Given Sanders’ recent momentum, as well as her need to persuade a significant number of his supporters to back her in November; such a denial was not only arrogant, it was highly insulting to voters in America’s largest state. From team Clinton’s perspective there was little upside to agreeing to a debate, versus easily manageable downside from a few days of negative media coverage.

Or so they thought…

One of the comments on ZH: Trump should choose Bernie as VP.

That would make so many heads explode.

All Trump has to do to beat the stuffing out Bernie is say “Venezuela” in his response...

You pose an interesting scenario: Sanders gives one of is "free everything" soundbites . . . and Trump always answers with just that one word "Venezuela".

Despite my enthusiasm for Trump and his campaign, that photo is nothing more than a staged photo op. To wit, notice that aside from an empty box of French fries and the cap removed from the Diet Coke, the soda, Big Mac and ketchup packets have not been touched.

Rush today saying this was incredibly brilliant, but for different reasons. He says it will expose to the American people via Sanders how radically whacky the whole Dem Party is. He’s right on that!

THE big political issue and challenge in America is to dismantle 80% of the mostly unconstitutional $4 trillion central government.

Yes, absolutely. But I'm afraid that will only happen with a massive financial crisis and government bankruptcy. What government anywhere (and their tens of millions of dependents and cronies) have ever chosen to voluntarily eliminate large parts of themselves?

Because the Republican message was the “New World Order” = open borders, free trade, etc.

They want, and still want us the middle class, to drop dead and before we do, they want us to live in “tiny houses” having one child and no car with no culture of our own (and no Jesus).

Exactly. So how do you do that? It has nothing to do with economics, social conduct, etc. Those may be important, but we must recognize that they are simply secondary order effects driven by the core principles of law & order. If we don't have a firm foundation based on the rule of law, then any policy edifice - conservative or liberal - is simply built on sand.

Trump & Bernie are speaking directly to these issues, which is why they are resonating with a majority of the electorate. Emma Goldman and many others have famously said that if voting changed anything, they'd make it illegal. We've seen how true that is for generations now; this is possibly a one-time shot.

If these core issues at hand cannot be peacefully resolved, then we'll continue down the path where the nationalists will be pitted against the NWO globalists in less than ideal conditions.

NEVER voluntarily.

It’s up to the states and the people to force it. It’s up to the states to nullify unconstitutional acts of the feds and the people to bring in those who are determined to take down 80% of the feds.

If you’ll pardon my chutzpah; it’s Phenomenon. Singular. Because there is only one like The Donald.

Phenomena is the plural.

But regardless, you’re correct. He’s breaking all the molds, all the rules, all the old worn-out chestnuts.

When I first heard he was considering the debate, I was against it; thinking he had nothing to gain by it. But I see my error, and happily stand corrected.

“You’re either Trump or you should be. That is beautiful”

No, I’m not him - I can guarantee that if I was nearly 70, with a beautiful wife and a great family, plus multiple billions of dollars, I would be enjoying the heck out of life and not putting up with the morons in the media or the corrupt jackals in politics.

I have, however, been watching him for nearly 40 years, and especially a lot this year. I probably could write his speeches (the ones not on a 3” x 3” sticky paper, that is). I’m going to enjoy his Presidency a LOT, not just because of the good things that he’ll do, but because the above-mentioned morons and corrupt jackals will be screaming bloody murder the whole time.

Thanks for your thoughts...though now I don’t think that they’re going to be debating. Too bad, it would’ve been a lot of fun to watch.
