OK, I will explain. California had a major drought and it doesn't go away just because there is rainfall. Often, when it rains hard, such as three inches of rain, the water often runs off and doesn't get a chance to soak in the soil. It takes a lot of sustained rain to raise the water level. A three inch rain is a drop in the bucket. It is better than nothing, but it will not by itself solve a drought. That is all the weatherman was trying to articulate.

A drought is often solved by sustained rainfall over a year or more that raises the water table, lifts the reservoirs back to normal level. That is when a drought is over. Hydrologists take soil samples and measures the moisture in soil at different depths to determine if a drought is getting better. Just because there is water in a ditch in the front of your yard does not indicate whether a drought is over.

So, I was standing in the gift shop at the Ahwahnee, and three people were talking. The guy behind the register was asking a man who was a C. Californian farmer about what things were like. This was 5 years ago.

The farmer answered that he was getting out, that he was going to sell because of the ‘damned Chinese,’ who were able to get their produce imported at rates that undercut his production.

This was around the time of the purposeful killing of all those farmers’ and almond tree farmers’ crops, places they’d held for generations.

I said, “Damned Communists,” but I didn’t mean the Chinese.

WHY did we let the government do this to us

Because the people in the cities of California don't understand nor care about the farmers being destroyed. They care about thinking of themselves as morally superior because they donated a few books to "Green Peace" when the nice young man that seemed oh-so-concerned about peaceful and green matters talked to them. Because they live in a place of noise and concrete and wish to do something for the green and lush somewhere out there, and imagine that they are helping.

I forgot something.

Some years ago now, I listened to Celente speaking from somewhere in S. America. He had just escaped from some earthquake or storm or something. He went on to speak about the normalcy bias and situational awareness.

I remember that vignette. He did a good job.

Trump is correct. Corrupt Sen. Diane Feinstein (D) and her husband who received a $1 billion contract for railroads ties! and others are buying up the central valley land where the $100 billion PLUS train to nowhere is going thru but they needed to lower the price of the land and suddenly a “ drought” came about forgetting that 80% of the water is flushed out to sea. The fish?
Not endangered at all.

What confounds is that the Delta Smelt isn’t even native to the area.

I I watched that speech and that is not what happened.

The locals told Trump that the water they needed was going to the ocean and that because of some small fish they could not get the water they needed to farm. Trump never said anything about there not being a drought, he was only responding to what he was told about the water allocation.

Another example of the MSM making up, more like, outright lying about what was said and what happened.

Infuriating!

do you think they would get a bigger hot water tank?

Don't have two or three kids here, but our home has two hot water tanks, one is a 100 gal tank and the other is a 40 gal tank. Reason for the 100 gal tank is a large Jacuzzi tub in the master bath.

If you have a problem with run off you build spreader dams to allow more time for the rain to sink into the soil.

You also build reservoirs to catch and hold the rain.

That way rain does help the drought.

At least that is what people in other deserts do and have been doing for thousands of years.

In California the drought will never be over because there is power and money to be made in prolonging it.
