Securing pilot Nadiya Savchenko's release from Russian captivity was a PR coup for Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko but the outspoken woman feted as the nation's "Joan of Arc" may ultimately prove a thorn in his side.
While in jail, Savchenko was named a lawmaker in what is now the main opposition party at a time of growing disillusion with the slow pace of reforms and tackling corruption. She has also condemned a key plank of Poroshenko's ceasefire deal with pro-Russian separatists granting them autonomy in eastern Ukraine.
"She may just ask all those who are now in power - what did you actually do while I was sitting in a Russian prison? She can gather under her flags all who are dissatisfied with the authorities, and it is a direct threat to Poroshenko," an MP from Poroshenko's party told Reuters on Friday.

Nothing like Mila Jovovich. God, that Mila is one gorgeous Ukrainian. I knew her before she got famous. Unfortunately she was only 17 so I couldn’t even make an attempt so I could later say I was turned down by Mila Jovovich.

Mila is half Serbian and Russian. Just born in Kiev per Wikipedia. I had to look her up - had no idea who she was. I seen her before in movies I think.
Perhaps. The other pictures are straight after she was released from 2 years of Russian prison where she was held in bad conditions and had also declared hunger strike.
Doesn’t really matter. She is not a candidate in a beauty contest. She is a hero of Ukraine and acted bravely when Russians dragged her through their kangaroo court.
If you watch video of her (I’ve probably seen an hour’s worth of video)....she’s hyped up twenty-four hours a day. Medically, she’s got some type of disorder, probably the seem as Joan of Arc....but at times, you need people like that. If she ever immigrated into the US and we could get rid of the native-born rule....she’d be President within five years (even Trump can’t touch her style).
She should have stayed on the hunger strike and lost more weight.
Joan of Arc was given a mission by God to secure France.
She was an inspired and inspiring leader: she also knew how to effectively use cavalry in the age of the longbow, and how to deploy siege artillery.

That is a military haircut. Also I think her name is “nadehzda” which means hope.
I know this is Reuters, a highly respeced news service, but after reading the article, I am a little confused. Possibly the Eastern European names have boggled my aging brain.
Is Nadiya Savchenko a pilot or a navigator? She was identified as both in the story.
Is Nadiya Savchenko a man or a woman? Is it possible even a respected news service like Reuters got the photos switched?
I unconfused myself by going to her facebook page.
She is a woman and cleans up very well.
Still confused as to whether she is a pilot or navigator or maybe a pilot/navigator.

Looks like her role in the Army Aviation Regiment was a navigator for Mi-24 helicopter. At the time of her capture she was instructor for volunteer fighters as this is where the fight was and she had real war experience because before the flight school she had served as mechanized infantry rifleman in Iraq.
Putin had to make the trade to get his two KGB generals back. They had to be the dumbest or most drunk- made a wrong turn and wound up being captured in Ukraine.
It was a huge humiliation for Putin who is still insisting they were tourists

Wouldn’t this open the door for more obama style leaders.
