(CNN)Donald Trump's campaign is considering booking one of Cleveland's big sports venues for his acceptance speech in July, two GOP sources familiar with the planning of the upcoming GOP convention say.
The sources said First Energy Stadium, home of the Cleveland Browns, and Progressive Field, home of the city's Indians baseball team, are the two sites under consideration for Trump's acceptance speech on the final night of the convention.
One of the sources said the campaign is closing in on signing a contract for use of one of the two venues, with the football stadium currently the favorite for Trump's speech. "It's going to be a big production," a Trump campaign adviser told CNN. "Given Trump's profile and how he handles things, nothing is off the table." "And he's going to be intimately involved in it," the adviser added.
Trump has said in recent weeks that he wants to add a Hollywood flair to this summer's convention, adding that he thought the nominating event for 2012 GOP candidate Mitt Romney was too boring.
Trump may also campaign in targeted cities around the country during the first few nights of the convention to build excitement for his arrival in Cleveland, sources added.
The Trump campaign is deploying a big team of staffers and volunteers to Cleveland in the coming days to join forces with GOP officials already in place in the city to accelerate planning, which is widely considered behind schedule and up against major logistical challenges.

Jeez, not Progressive Field. The symbolism will give me an embolism.
Still unhappy Progressive Inc couldn’t bring itself to leave Jacobs Field as Jacobs Field.
It’s a nice ballpark.
Dallas or Nashville would have been perfect.
Trump wants to shake up the stodgy and hidebound convention proceedings.
Traditionally, the nominee in waiting remains hidden until the final night of the convention.
Trump wants to overturn the tradition and make himself readily available.
That would be a first.
battleground states are chosen for the graft value of the convention budget.
OH and PA are Rust Belt battleground states, which why the GOP and Democratic national conventions are within hailing distance of the other.
Me, too. Where’s “Conservative Field” located?
OK, maybe there’s an old “Veteran’s Stadium” somewhere that the corporations haven’t snatched up.
Anything but “Progressive,”
Wait, I know! Trump should immediately buy the naming rights to the stadium and rename it “Make America Great Again Field.” Of course, the “Great America” parks legal team would go bonkers.
My preference for Candidate Trump to hold an acceptance speech for the nomination would be at an extremely large factory.
This country in its past had factories whose buildings stretched to the point you could actually see the curvature of the earth inside (from one end to another). One building I know of is in Lockheed-Martin’s AF Plant 6 facility. I’m sure there are others in this country.
Hold it at a place that symbolizes getting back to work, and working grandly, to make this country great again. I’m sure there are suitable venues nearby Cleveland that could accommodate the event. We aren’t about sporting or pastimes; we need to be about putting our nose to the grindstone. This would show that.
Remember The Second Coming Of Allah Jr.?
Trump should put some fake Greek columns on the stage at his acceptance speech.
Yep - he wants to generate a positive energy and let it build on what he has accomplished before and help keep the People interested - we seem to become lethargic when we should be going into high gear and he wants to be the dynamo that powers us.
GO TRUMP!!!
Dear Donald,
Just no Greek Columns
Please
I like it. The optics would be great!
The “ mistake by the lake” was chosen by the same people who, thought they would be coronating Jeb Bush
Excellent idea!!!!!!
That could be cool if they were displayed scattered around as ruins...
“Trump wants to overturn the tradition and make himself readily available. That would be a first”......
I see Trump doing a lot of things that are out of the norm, things that are badly needed. I hope he turns all the politically correct B.S. (other words would be more appropriate) on their ears.
Trump will probably bring in a 58 story skyscraper for the event.
