Clinton campaign faces a deficit of a vital commodity: enthusiasm

Los Angeles (AFP) - His rallies are like raucous circuses, interrupted by the clamor of a captivated crowd that is quick to finish his sentences. Hers seem more like sober presidential addresses, exhaustive litanies of proposals presented to well-behaved supporters.

Making matters worse, Hillary Clinton tends to arrive late, while the Donald Trump Show always begins on time.

With the US presidential election about to enter a new phase, the Democratic candidate suffers from a glaring enthusiasm deficit, threatened by Bernie Sanders in the final primaries in June and unable to contain Republican charges of ethical lapses fueled by her use of a private e-mail server as secretary of state.

The contrast could not be more striking between Clinton's controlled appearances and the fervent chaos that surrounds the public events of the billionaire populist, who strides onto stage to the deafening beat of 2 Unlimited's "Get Ready for This."

"Trump! Trump!" roared thousands of his supporters recently at a convention center in Anaheim, California, before breaking into cries of "Build the wall! Build the wall!"

- 'Women like me' -

His speech is improvised, basic, disjointed. He promises to bring manufacturing jobs back to America but offers no detail than to threaten customs sanctions against companies that move their operations abroad.

He seems at times to create his own facts. "I'm telling you, women like me," he says; and, "The Hispanics are liking Donald Trump," both observations sharply contradicted by opinion polls.

He stirs up the crowd by deriding the "stupidity" of the country's leaders and contrasting it to his own business aptitude.

"We're going to win so much you're going to be so disgusted with me," he concludes, drawing a thunderous ovation.

Hillary is the Democratic Romney... she wants the job because she’s next line and is owed.

No wonder there’s no real enthusiasm among her supporters.

Like Mittens, there’s buyers’ remorse about her and Democrats have shopped around for another candidate.

Hardly the stuff winners are made of.

This goes along with Hillary’s demeanor. She lacks authentic enthusiasm and lacks charisma. She sounds scripted and arrogant or bored.

I could see Obama being intentionally late. With the she candidate, I suspect severe, chronic, habitual, and long running disorganization with herself changing her mind about things at the last minute and basically running amok.

Just curious.

I realize the they are minors but why would those kids’ faces be blurred if the picture was taken at a public event?

These are the topics that need to be addressed publicly. “Why do you hate America, and think that the southwest belongs to Mexico?” That’s a very legitimate question to ask, and to debate, but has been avoided.

I went to a Trump rally fairly early on (the one on the USS Iowa in San Pedro). As I was short on time, I was really appreciative of the fact that the rally started exactly on time. I might’ve killed less than an hour of my life for the whole thing. I absolutely despise people who arrive late to events that can’t start without them. I can just see Hillary’s handlers pacing around outside her room as the schedule gets pushed later and later, and inside she’s napping.

My late mother, who was always running late, considered my promptness akin to a character defect. :-)

Headline says article is about Hillary’s woes, but 80% of the article is spent trashing Trump. Nonetheless, the comments there are almost 100% anti-Hillary, and yahoo is a lib enemedia site. I’m seeing this kind of overwhelming negative sentiment regarding Hillary almost everywhere I look on the Internet, including lib sites; I don’t think that bodes well at all for Hillary.
