We may be just this screwed: Donald Trump has an easier path to victory than you think

As the 2016 presidential primaries got underway, there seemed to be several incontrovertible truths: Hillary Clinton’s nomination was inevitable, and Donald Trump stood no chance. Yet, here we are six months before the election, and Trump has seized the Republican nomination while Clinton is still working to box out Bernie Sanders’ insurgency (without losing his voters, who it turns out, may peel off after all).

--snip--

A Referendum on Obama’s Administration and Bill Clinton’s

Historically speaking, it is rare that a party that completed two terms in the Oval Office manages to win a third. Granted, Obama has been a transformational president, and his popularity remains high. However, the problem facing Hillary is that she’s not only going to be held to account for the failures and shortcomings of the Obama administration, but also of her husband’s tenure in office.

Consider: Despite Hillary Clinton’s unparalleled credentials, her historic potential as the first female POTUS, her early and nearly insurmountable delegate lead, and the near-unanimous and robust support from the Democratic Party establishment throughout—she is having trouble “closing the deal” for the nomination.

Panic City on the left. I think they’re feeling the same way we all felt in 1992, 1996, 2008 and four years ago when we knew the GOP candidate was going to lose the presidential race even before the convention.

McRomney - it does shock the mind that both managed to get the Republican nomination (and my nose STILL hurts from holding it to vote for Mitt "I Love Mandates, Mandates Work" Romney, likely a carry on from holding it so hard to vote for McCain.)

I don't know if it is panic city YET, though it well should be. Their options are a damaged Hillary (whom they're trying to MoveOn from yet another series of felonies) and a deranged socialist.

Since 'Madame Secretary' wasn't prefacing her name, I do believe they can. (Or is Salon trying to simply forget that term of office, considering all the felonies committed and Libya...)

Interesting article. Clinton the lying establishment policy wonk and Trump the fresh new anti-establishment revolutionary. Clinton’s reputation set, Trump still being defined. As long as Trump doesn’t step back and let others define him, he wins. Go Trump!

A lot of liberals are admitting that...Hillary is just a weaker nominee because she is not liberal enough or untainted like Sanders would be.

Leftists are addicts to various sorts of toxicities. They have gotten so high and used to the meme that Hillary would mop the floor with anyone and even salivated having Trump as their opponent. Be careful what they wish for == they just may get it.

If you could see what was coming since 6/15/2015, the day Trump announced, pat yourself on the back. Because all the experts, pundits, media, talk show liars, lawyer politicians were all 100% wrong about Trump and America.

"So its Clinton or nobody. And you notice that no one except a no-name with no record has dared to run against her for the nomination. He was a fake candidate intended to make it look like a real race, but so unpopular is she, and so closed is the party to any real candidates in the party, that people have flocked to the fake candidate in droves."

imo, the bern was intended to be merely a placeholder in the primaries to mike the hildabeast look "younger" and more "middle of the road".
