CHICAGO -- Four people were killed, including a 15-year-old girl, and at least 48 more have been wounded in shootings across Chicago over Memorial Day weekend.
The most recent homicide happened Saturday evening in the Fuller Park neighborhood on the South Side.
Garvin Whitmore, 27, was sitting in the driver seat of a vehicle with 26-year-old Ashley Harrison about 5:20 p.m. in the 200 block of West Root when someone walked up to the vehicle and shot the man in the head, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner's office.

If it weren’t for the NRA, there would be no guns for Chicago’s indigenous urban peoples to steal to kill each other with.
At some point, they are going to have to send in the national guard. It will be a shooting war. But they won’t. Chicago has never been free from violence, but this is third-world country stuff. What happens in the cities soon expands to the country, not vice-versa.
This is the bleeding edge of civilization in America. In America of all places. My, how this country has changed. This sort of wanton, open violence once was met with force. Now we are told we must tolerate it as free speech or expressions of a culture equal or exceeding historic Americanism. How many have to die? How many children gunned down in the streets before America realizes this IS the Liberal’s dream in the concrete?
Who will restore order? The government has no interest as long as it can continue to milk rural america. Who will get angry enough to stop the violence? Not the ones who have been dumbed-down and given free stuff. As long as they can get their drugs, their food and their sex, they won’t care for their own, sending their single-digit aged kids to fend for themselves.
