Stephen Hawking understands the workings of the universe — but says he cannot fathom the popularity of Donald Trump.

The British astrophysicist told ITV’s morning show Monday that the presumptive Republican Party candidate for U.S. president “is a demagogue who seems to appeal to the lowest common denominator.“

Hawking also appealed to British voters to vote to keep the United Kingdom inside the European Union in a June 23 referendum. …

Hawking may be brilliant, but he’s confined to a wheelchair and force-fed politics through the British media filter. Any knowledge he would have of on-the-ground realities in the US would be highly conjectural. He’s out of touch.

Hawking may be a genius in the field of cosmology, but he is a political dunce. He should be wiser and not comment upon matters in which he is so naive.

Well that makes us even Stephen Hawking, because I can’t understand how so many people believe you are a scholar. I see you for what you are, an arrogant idiot.

The “Lowest common denominator” meaning anyone who does not wish to be invaded by third-world parasites.

In common sense... a blithering idiot.

Many times Genius lacks common sense.

The Donald appeals to that and leaves the esoteric for those who dwell in that area.

Physicists are experts at, well, physics. So they should give their opinions when the topic is physics. Otherwise, they should shut up.

By the way, that goes for movie stars as well. They are experts at making movies, and nothing else.

Hawking has been dead for years, but his computer keeps speaking for him.... like a ventriloquist’s dummy.

For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

— Isaiah 57:15
The “scientists” could not conceive of a universe that was not steady state (had always existed) either, until red shift proved that the universe is expanding, indicating a beginning at the very least. So Hawking’s presumption that time is necessary for existence (who makes that rule?) will also be blown out of the water eventually.

I have a relative who works at CERN on the Large Hadron Collider. He’s an idiot. I mean, he’s brilliant and successful, and been over there to great acclaim for several decades now. But he’s an idiot.
