A 24-year-old middle school teacher accused of having a months-long affair with a 13-year-old student — who got her pregnant — turned herself in Wednesday afternoon.
Alexandria Vera was booked on charges of continuous sexual abuse of a child and released on $100,000 bail — a day after Houston police issued a warrant for the raven-haired English teacher’s arrest.
She met — and fell in love with — the boy last summer at Stovall Middle School in Houston, according to court documents obtained by ABC

Is a 13 yr old boy having sex with an older man always rape? what if the boy was agreeable?
I think any 13 yr old boy or girl is likely not emotionally ready for all involved in a true sexual relationship. In years to come he will likely realize the damage so many posting here seem to ignore.
She being 24 and a mom to boot should have known better than to go after a young teen, but she acted no better than age 13 herself.
Call me hypocritical, but I don't make near the same allowances for homosexual behavior. It's 100% unnatural and detrimental. The 24-yr old woman falling in love with a 13-yr old boy is about 75% unnatural.

My wife is half Japanese and when I first met her she was 18 years old but looked about 13. I wasn't into young girls but she and her barracks roommate (we were both in the Air Force) ended up at my table at the NCO Club and we started talking. I didn't have a chance as she was such a great person and we fell in love. Now married over 34 years.
Anyway, she always looked so young that whenever we would go out to eat and she ordered an alcoholic drink others would stare at us, partly because they thought I was robbing the cradle but also because she was drinking, even though she was over 21. A few people got so rude as to confront us about the alcohol. and I would have to stand up and tell them my wife was not only of age but an E-5 in the Air force and worked in the Wing Commander's office of a Bomb Wing with 24 B-52 bombers.
Funny. Asians often age well.
The woman I served may have had an Italian background, a slight olive complexion as I recall. Mostly I was struck by the fact that she was pretty and looked young.
On another occasion I had two couples of bikers order a pitcher of beer. Wearing biker jackets with patches. The biker dudes were in their early 20s. Their girlfriends looked like teenagers. After awhile I saw the girls drinking beer and I hadn’t carded them. I wasn’t looking forward to doing it, but I walked over and said that I’d have to see ID if the girls were going to drink. The two bikers said ‘no problem’ and took the beer away from the girls without any hassle at all. One of the easiest groups I ever had to deal with. Softball teams on the other hand, could be belligerent and totally uncooperative.

Are you claiming that 13 year old boys have to be ‘groomed’ to have sex with an attractive(physically, at least) young woman?
The yardstick deal was when we had a lady who was “teaching” us about the worlds great rivers. She claimed that the Nile run from north to south since in her mind all rivers ran that way. My buddy, who sat next to me in the next desk over got into it with her and argued with her that it ran south to north into the Med’ sea. I backed him up, and she got pissed and swung that yardstick, he ducked and I got it right across the chops. My jaw was sore for a week and to top it all off, we got detention for a week for disputing her claim. Now days, she would have been fired, but back then, you respected elders and if you got it, there was always a reason in the minds of some. My folks were good friends with her and her husband.
That one really stuck in my craw. Although we got the paddle once in a while, we deserved it, but that one niether of us deserved.

If this were actually true, you would have a point. It most emphatically is *NOT*. Women are given a pass on much under the law, these days (in fact this has been usually the case throughout history.)
Watch as this case unfolds in the judicial system. A male teacher having sexual relations with an underage female would be looking at decades of imprisonment 20-30 YEARS. I doubt she will draw a sentence of as many MONTHS, if she is incarcerated at all. If *THIS* reality is "the same way a man is", then we have a real problem...

lol. You see lots of girls/young women like that here in SoCal. This whole thing is tied up in a particular segment of latino culture. Doesn’t surprise me that the parents were in on it.
Get real. It doesn’t make one a crackpot of feminist ideology to know that a 24 year old HO has no business diddling a 13 year old.
So are you one of the ones who likes to equate teenage boys with teenage girls? Who doesn’t see any difference in their psyches and thinks that a woman offering herself in an inappropriate sexual relationship to a teenage boy is the same as rape?
