Ted Cruz For Senate
The Federalist ^ | June 3rd, 2016 | By Sean Saffron

Posted on 06/04/2016 11:07:51 AM PDT by Mariner

Lost in all the back and forth of the Republican presidential primary is a profound question for the conservative movement: “Whither Ted Cruz?” Let us not overlook a conservative powerhouse, with a proven track record of organizing actual voters across a wide swath of states, expertise at small-dollar fundraising, and the discipline to endure months of heckling by Donald Troll and his oafish minions.

Is no one else excited to see the next chapter for Cruz? If he so chooses, Cruz can be the conservative leader he was so often attacked for not being over the last few years. Now that he is no longer required to hedge his every position, craft every utterance for maximum flexibility, and throw inconvenient political groups under the bus, Cruz can focus on actually legislating and moving the American political center rightward.

As I argued last year (in an unheeded essay urging he stay put in the Senate):

“His mother’s citizenship is irrelevant to natural born citizen status.
Cruz in ineligible because of the foreign birth and the foreign national father.”

Absolutely true! I was only responding to the notion brought up by some here, that his mother’s citizenship was at issue. And sadly we could have avoided a bunch of useless nonsense via Cruze, if the matter had been promptly addressed by the SCOTUS. But then, those a$$holes take their paychecks under false pretenses because they are like doctors who don’t heal, they just pick at the wound.

I am hoping that enough Texans were paying attention during his campaign to reconsider his presence in the legislature.

Ted 'won' his home state with the lowest percentage of votes ever recorded for a Republican candidate. Right then and there, you could see that Ted has lost a huge amount of support in Texas.

He's also doing nothing to change perceptions here. He's been sulking with his lip poked out since the Indiana primary, and has yet to express even the slightest support for our nominee. In fact, when an interviewer asked him about that, he replied, "I'll be at the convention cheering on the delegates."

What sort of statement is that? It's a covert dig, and divisive as hell, that's what. That's no way to win back the people's hearts.

If I had not been born in Montana I’d no doubt had been born in Texas, I love it there.

Don’t mess with Texas. They will elect who they damn well please and they don’t need anybody telling them how to vote....

If googled information states his parents were in Canada 3 years before his birth. Several sources are wrong if you are correct.

AMEN!!!!!

I have been a Cruz supporter and fought for him to be the candidate. It does not appear that is now going to happen and I will support Trump in the general.

BUT IF the Trumpsters here continue to massacre Ted Cruz and try and de-seat him from the Senate, with the blessing of those who run Free Republic ,.. I will leave FR, not to return again.

Too bad after all the evidence has been presented that Cruz is a complete fraud, there are still a few Texans who are still in the tank for him!

More than just Texans, I'm afraid. They're scattered all over the place.

It's a curious phenomenon, to be sure. Similar to Democrats who have had the evidence against Hillary Clinton presented to them for decades, yet refuse to accept any of it. It's what they have to do, to continue supporting her.

Same thing at work with the Cruz cult.

“The Cruz family history is one mess to try to unravel.”

Such a mess, that maybe we’d be better off forgetting about Cruz.

Remember the old saying: the graveyards are full of indispensable men.

The founders, when they created the natural born citizen requirement, realized it would exclude many fine and capable men. Yet, they decided it was better to be safe than sorry.

Ted Cruz is NOT indispensable. Our country will get along fine without him. Given the controversy over his birth, maybe we’d be better off passing on Ted, rather than risk watering down the natural born citizen clause.

Poor person if your only goal or pleasure in life is to type in caps and jerk people around. I thought that pastime was for liberals. Get help!

What was the date he dismissed his Canadian citizenship?

Beck and Levin by their actions and words have proven what they are. They turned on us. Remember Beck calling Tea Party Nazis? Or damning anyone who supported Trump. Will you next be lamenting anyone criticizing McCain? Saying you are conservative like with Beck and others doesn’t make it true.

Thanks! I’m a native Texan and hope we get a good primary opponent to vote for over Lyin’ Ted.

I agree but at some point I suspect Cruz will be back in the limelight.
I just try to gather info and file it for later.

Rafael Cruz Senior was living in the US in late 1967, 26 Jul 67, as evidenced by his selective service registration card.

I think we Texans are capable of finding a real conservative (and an American) to replace Lyin' Ted in 2018, thank you very much.

worth repeating...

From National Review:

In the early 1960s, Rafael Cruz was also beginning to start a family. He married and had two daughters, and he started to work in the energy industry. But the marriage ended after only a few years, and Cruz found himself at a difficult crossroads in his late twenties. (One of his daughters is now a physician in Texas; the other is deceased.)

Cruz decided to move to New Orleans to take a new job, which is where he met his second wife, Eleanor Darragh, a computer programmer from Delaware, who was also working for an oil company. They married, moved to Calgary, Alberta, and in late 1970 had their first and only child, Rafael Edward Cruz.
