Gingrich: Trump's attacks on judge 'unacceptable'
The Hill ^ | June 4, 2016 | Evelyn Rupert

Donald Trump supporter and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich isn't on board with Trump's attacks on a federal judge.

“I don’t know what Trump’s reasoning was, and I don’t care,” Gingrich said in an email to the Washington Post. “His description of the judge in terms of his parentage is completely unacceptable.”

Trump has continually bashed U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel, who is overseeing lawsuits over Trump's real estate education program Trump University. Trump claims that because Curiel is of Mexican descent, he is inherently biased against him and should recuse himself. Curiel was born in Indiana to immigrant parents.

Newt has certainly removed himself from consideration as VP...with this and his complaints about Trump’s comments on Martinez.

Both judges and the press have been above the law for a long time in this country. Nice to see a candidate who treats them like the pigs they are.

That's Freaking BINGO right there !!!!!

Have to disagree with Newt on this one - anyone who sits idly by and ignores what folks want Trump to ignore, are only strengthening those who would abuse us on the path to enslaving us. he deserves to have a judge who doesn’t have such questions (it’s not just his lineage) and he is standing up for that - if the Nation had more Donald Trump types (the man regardless of the money) we’d be in a lot better shape.

He is consistently inconsistent… one day he's brilliant, another day he's full of crap. On any given day, Newt Gingrich needs to be taken with a grain of salt, taking an extra grain whenever he appears to he making sense. Always - ALWAYS - remember this:

Newt Gingrich's Rule #1: it is all about Newt Gingrich.

All Newt Gingrich's Other Rules: see Newt Gingrich's Rule #1.

Just heard Tucker Carlson on “Fox & Friends” Sunday morning interviewing Alberto Gonzalez say “If Trump keeps up questioning the judge’s family heritage he won’t be President.”

I agree with Newt.

It is right to go after the judge if he is making clearly adversarial rulings, and it is right to mention that he is La Raza. I haven’t heard Trump mention La Raza. We know about it, I haven’t heard him mention it. That is the point he needs to keep pounding. Or the judge’s connections to the Hillary campaign. Do that and he’ll have a winner, he is on solid ground.

Trump needs people around him who aren’t afraid to disagree. I’m sure he has that in business. He needs that in politics too. I think Newt just showed that he is that guy. I’d like to see him as Trump’s chief of staff. I think he’s too old for VP, but he would be good for Donald.

He may have alluded to it by talking about the judge’s “cultural activities” in the Jake Tapper interview but I doubt there is enough substantiated information to get a reassignment. Also, I believe any petition for a new judge has to be made before a ruling that the defendant deems unfair. Trump is new to politics and is still learning where the boundaries are so this isn’t the end of the road. But he does need to address pro immigration forces with facts and stop the mindset of codewords like “Mexicans” and “wall” to bail him out.
