I remember seeing, back in 1965, photos of an Army Sgt holding an m-16 up to the front of his face and pulling the trigger. The purpose was to show how little recoil there was. It was also stated that if he had done it with an M-14 it would have bloodied his face and broke his nose.

The Ar-15 and other rifles in .566 have almost NO recoil.

I have seen the same and done it as well albeit with an AR-15 not a M-16. No damage to me or the weapon. One point of order its .556 not .566
