The Dalai Lama was forced to answer some difficult questions during his trip to the US - about everything from terrorism in the wake of the Orlando nightclub shooting to the vocal criticism of President Obama by the Chinese after he hosted the Tibetan spiritual leader in the White House.
But none of those questions gave his holiness as much trouble as Fox News host Bret Baier asking him during an interview on Wednesday if he had ever seen the film Caddyshack.
Baier and his guest had been having a discussion about terrorism and the Muslim faith when the political anchor decided to lighten the mood by asking: 'Last thing, have you ever seen the movie Caddyshack?'

Visibly confused, the Dalai Lama responded to this by saying: 'What?' Baier tried again, saying: 'Caddyshack the movie.'
The Dalai Lama seemed to give up at that point and said: 'I dont know.'
A persistent Baier tried one final time though, saying: 'The part about the Dalai Lama.'
Things only got more awkward from there when Baier decided to ask a few more follow-up questions about sports and a film that the spiritual leader has never seen in his life.
'Have you ever played golf?' asked Baier. 'No,' said the Dalai Lama.
'Youre not a big hitter?' asked Baier, in his fourth reference to Caddyshack.
'In badminton,' said the Dalai Lama, who then began to swing an invisible racket above his head.
'But not golf?' asked Baier, again.
'No,' said the Dalai Lama, again.

Well, Ginger did show up again in “The Stepford Wives”.....
FOX certainly would benefit from daily “coups”.
I watched this interview . I have met the Dalai Lama once and followed his life story for a long long time . I know the entire modern history of Tibet and understand quite a bit about Vajrayana Buddhism .
I was totally dismayed by H.H.’s entire take on Islam and the Islamist terrorism the world is forced to deal with today . Completely clueless .
In Tibet , when brave Khampa were fighting the invading Mao armies , he did nothing . Finally he fled . 10’s of 1000’s of Tibetans died badly . Not his fault but it should have set off a light in his mind about the nature of genuine evil in humanity . He continues too insist there is no true evil in humanity . This is such a dangerous view .
ANY mindful Buddhist should have acknowledged what has happened to them since the days of the first pre-Mughal , Turkic invasions of India and the mass slaughter and displacement of all Buddhists . Culminating in the modern era , the destruction of Bamiyan and the murder of Buddhists by moslems in Thailand , Burma , and Bangladesh .They even tried to blow uo the MahaBodhi stupa in Bodh Gaya . He faces two great and evil threats ; the atheistic and anti-Tibetan Chinese and the advance f radical Buddhist murdering Islam . He is dealing with neither . But he will die chuckling .
Disagraceful...
ps:
‘I dont know.’
This is H.H. Dalai Lama’s favorite jovial disclaimer ,
he uses it frequently . I keep hoping it will rub off on Obama
The “Stuttering John” School of Journalism.
“She constantly tried to bring him to my MIL’s house, but my MIL always said “I don’t allow religous nuts in my house”.”
Your MIL sounds pretty hard core.
Why in the hell did he ask that question?
Bret has lost a huge amount of credibility in my opinion.
Maybe he doesn’t want his own feature show anymore.
I thought I was listening to a Jimmy Fallon skit, something that would never take place in real life.
LOL
You might google the Aussie newsreader telling the Dalai Lama a joke about the Dalai Lama going into a pizza shop and asking,
“Can you make me one with everything?”
The Dalai Lama’s response had this guy sinking through the floor.
I guess there are many indirect ways to show disrespect to an adored spiritual leader if that is your intent. This line of questioning being one of those ways.
It was. On the other hand think about it if the Dali Lama had said quote at the moment of your death you will receive total enlightenment. What a score that would have been. It was well worth the risk. Too bad it didn’t work out.
He should have spoken to him in his own language:
“Gunga galunga... gunga, gunga-galunga. “
Cant say I agree with all of the Lama’s views but calling him a hustler is pretty disrespectful.
Red should have asked them what do you dress up as for Halloween? The Dali Lama hahaha
Both!
However, i am seriously outdated, and the metrosexually correct hipster millenial response is the professor and the ww ii japanese soldier! And please excuse my toxic masculinity! :-P :-)
