No they won't, if he follows Trump's methods. If you look back he excoriated the press once in a debate, but backed down after that. Trump will tell him to go at them, it doesn't seem to harm him much.
Different election different issues. To be honest Trump did say in Cincinnati tonight that Newt would be in his administration in a big way.

I agree Pence equally possible and is probably who most of Trump’s aides are advocating for.

Newt was painted as the guy who walked out on his wife when she had cancer and it stuck.
The House was not at fault for that, it was the Senate that wouldn't let them present the case. Trent Lott said they couldn't convict Clinton if the had video of Clinton raping a young boy on the White House lawn, or don't you remember that.
