Newt Gingrich Makes Announcement That Many Have Been Awaiting
Western Journalism ^ | July 6, 2016 | Kevin Whitson

After months of speculation, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich has just confirmed he is being vetted to be Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s vice president...

Hannity led with a brief discussion of a Drudge Report poll indicating the American people most wanted Gingrich to be selected as the vice president...

Hannity then directed a more pointed question at the former House speaker: “Are you being vetted?”

“I think they’ve been very clear all along that I’m one of the four or five people that they’re vetting,” Gingrich said.

“When do you think that decision will be made?

My guess is that they’ll do it either Thursday or Friday [before the GOP convention] so that it dominates the weekend news going into the convention.”

Big mistake. I would never trust Gingrich.

He is too much of a DC insider. He has been there since he was forced out as Speaker. He is part of the problem.

Chief of staff? Okay, but not VP. Not one heartbeat away from the presidency.

“Could do a lot worse, my short list of better would be Ted Cruz and Sarah Palin. “

Oh, that’s good, an a$$hole and a hasbeen! Sarah Palin is no longer relevant and she doesn’t know her way around DC! As for Cruze, we should all be thankful that Trump would never put him “a heartbeat away from the Presidency.” He should just finish his Senate term and repatriate himself to either Canada or Cuba.

If Trump wants to please, delight and totally fire up between a third and half his supporters, and dismay and seriously disappoint the rest, he should pick Newt.

I guess you haven’t read all the posts on this thread.

..just answer the question who would you pit against Hillary’s VP pick in a debate. I think the only answer is Newt—past baggage notwithstanding...

VP the office is not what’s at stake, I think. Forget governing. Newt and DJT both know the big man is going to pull that freight on his own.

It’s the election. Who helps significantly in winning it by a margin large enough to overcome the inevitable fraud?

On this point, many of the possibilities are lame. It cannot be a blah-blah-blah kinda candidate. And not one with a target on the back (Palin, Christie, and possibly even Neuters).

Trump is not going to micromanage. He’s going to hire good people. But first, he has to win overwhelmingly. Frankly, I think Newt would rather be chief of staff and liaison to Congress. I wouldn’t be surprised if he and Trump are scheming to throw off the MSM and Oppo research. Newt as VP is a head fake, I think. It’s going to be somebody else, a surprise, and an eye-popping one that will absolutely own the news cycles in the days before the convention.

The fact that she’s talking about withdrawing from consideration is another juke, by Joni Ernst.

If I’m right about this post, I’ll be back here bragging about it.

If I’m wrong, you won’t remind me about it, will you? Pretty please.

How is that a Pro?

He lost his speakership and his successor only lasted a month or so. Clinton was impeached, but never removed, and has been the hero of the Democrat Party ever since.

Thanx, but of course I was referring to Newt Gingrich.

IMO, we don't have many to choose from.
There's a ton of good men (and imo, Trump needs to be paired with a man ... a woman veep would water down the testosterone ... even Palin) .. available, but Newt is the same age ( most ANY true and successful friendship/partnership are of the same age bracket ) and I believe he is of the same basic "fix-it" attitude.

He certainly can talk and he makes sense.

I hate the duplicity and hypocrisy.

To be fair Newt wasn't boinking an intern in the Speakers office.

“I Like Newtie, but he has had 3 wives also”

As a Believer, I believe marriage is between a man, a woman, and God - and it is a lifetime commitment that does not require a state endorsement.

What I don’t understand is why some people :
1) Are OK with multiple pre-marital sex partners but draw the line at multiple state endorsed marriages
2) Hold non-Christians to Christian standards
3) Don’t extend grace to people whose early and middle aged folly is regretted

In this day and age, what is marriage other than a cultural norm appropriated by the government for the purposes of taxation, meddling, and the destruction of a sacred religious rite?

Ummm. This isn’t the night before Agincourt. It’s a discussion thread. You need a stiff drink. Relax, Hal. Trump’ll handle this just fine without us.

Newt has no more baggage than Trump himself.

I think it’s a good pick

“Media will ridicule him into oblivion - again.”

The medial will do that with any of the VP picks. You can take that to the bank.

As a military family, I would like his VP to have military experience. Allen West would have been perfect if he hadn’t lost...

Does baggage from the media as it stands really disqualify a candidate.

Trump backed these lying press harpies down and won in spite of them.

Newt is an asset.
