Bad idea and portends even more militarized police.

Shoot 11 police officers and kill 5 and you will be amazed at what they are willing and able to do to you

If you had a robot bomb and you had to get the suspect, would you use it? Or would you try to shoot it out with the guy?

There’s really not that much difference between shooting them and blowing them up. Really so long is the person is an active threat I don’t have a problem with it. Our biggest issue with cops these days is them going to deadly force without a threat, when there’s a threat screw it. I mean let’s face it, if you were in that situation and had access to a robobomb you’d use it right? So why shouldn’t they. Never fault anybody for using the tools available.

Why would the robot be armed with a bomb and not a gun?

But don’t use the “wrong” chemicals to execute a child murderer.

It was probably either the police/robot or the shooter who was not at negotiating stage. What should they have done?

Under certain circumstances police snipers are authorized to shoot suspects from a considerable distance without warning. Where is this a whole different kettle of fish?
I do have to give the Dallas PD credit for originality.

As far as I know there is no legal specifics on method or manner of justifiable use of deadly force by law enforcement.
I recall where a police cruiser has been used to strike an assailant in order to stop the perp that is about to shoot the officer driving that vehicle.

It was reported last night that he was shooting at them and threatened to kill more cops. Are people really questioning whether cops have the right to defend themselves from being murdered? Or are they just for some inexplicable reason all up in a tizzy over *how* dangerous shooters who pose an immediate threat die, even though they end up just as dead?

Suspect?
If they are caught in the act and continue the offense, then they are guilty by act of continued action.
After that the cops are simply abating a dangerous nuisance.

Although I am frequently critical of the way police handle certain situations, I fully support their decision, here.
Once you initiate shooting at the police, anything they use short of tactical nukes is fair game.

I wonder how big of bombs they have.
I wonder what else they have.
