EXCLUSIVE – Newt Gingrich: I Would Consider Being Trump’s Running Mate
Breitbart.com ^ | 9 July 2016 | Patrick Howley

Posted on 07/09/2016 9:57:27 AM PDT by Rockitz

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich tells Breitbart News that he would consider being Republican candidate Donald Trump’s running mate in November’s general election. Asked if Trump has asked him to be running mate, Gingrich said, “No.”

Asked if he would consider being running mate, Gingrich said, “Yes.” But, “I think he has to make that decision.”

“It is the most extraordinary campaign of its time,” the former speaker added. “He’s come out of nowhere and defeated 16 other candidates.”

“If he catches fire he could be much like Reagan in 1980,” Gingrich said, noting that Trump could match those record numbers “if this thing continues to evolve and people learn how dishonest and unserious Hillary Clinton is.”

In conversation, Gingrich habitually rattles off ballot statistics for small nationalistic parties in other parts of the world, from Austria, where the election “is so close they’re going to have to re-run it because the establishment stole about 60,000 votes. The two parties that had run the country came in fourth and fifth,” to Rome, where Virginia Raggi won the mayoral election heading the populist Five Star Movement. To Great Britain.

“The British people heard from the establishment unanimously opposing it and the people just ignored them and rolled over it,” he said before he started talking about the election of a schoolteacher in Iceland.

The flip side of the coin is that you have shown wisdom at being open to learning from someone much younger and of a different background than yourself. Not all in-laws are capable of such respect and humility. So I have high regard for the Humanitarian traits of Newt Gingrich. He has shown love, fascination and respect for God’s creatures. Ask him about his favorite Zoo’s around the world. He could go on for hours.

Most of the Gingrich bashers have never heard him speak more than a 20 second sound bite they get their news from Facebook and Huffingtonpost.

So wait a minute...listen to what you just said RINO= Republican in name only.....that is precisely what Trump is in name only. Don’t get me wrong I’m voting for the guy but let’s not kid ourselves that Trump is not a RINO as well. He is not and has not been a conservative

Winning = first putting a conservative on the ticket and not water down what conservatism is

Yeah, and we have a lot of low information voters here who don’t realize it.

Oh yeah, Nancy’s little couch buddy is the ultimate B-52!

Yeah, he sure did a number on Romney, remember? He started off the season rather well, but ended up with the short end of the stick later on down the road when Mr. Meek managed to not only hold his own against Gingrich, but started to look better overall in those debates before Iowa.

Gingrich is now a Nancy Boy, literally.

Being an attach dog is a useful trait for the VP, but that will never override his baggage.

He is a piss poor choice.

Who would be better? I don’t know but I’m of the opinion that just about Anyone other than Gingrich is a better choice.

Newt has truly helped set the government in a better direction in the past, but it’s hard to get past aspects of his personality.

He craves attention, while you sense Trump uses attention, which he does not “crave.”

Mr. Trump is not an establishment insider, is he?

Note the difference?

In the end, there may be little difference as none of us can see the what will transpire if Mr. Trump wins.

But, I’m talking about an Establishment RINO who brings nothing positive to the table. Gingrich has no business being considered as the VP pick as far as I’m concerned.

Remember one of the primary themes about this election. People are sick of the establishment. Staying that route would be the best course of action, IMO.

I would like that pick (Rand Paul), too.

" Undecideds will be influenced."

I believe there's merit to that argument.

But I don't know of anything that would sweeten a Trump-led ticket in a material way.

Could it become more sour? Perhaps, but I doubt it.

The fire will always be focused on Trump. Most will never even know who he picks.

I doubt the MSM will let his pick stay in the background if they feel that they can use it against him.

You mean when Romney ran a ton of negative ads in Florida after Newt won South Carolina, and the brain trust on our side decided to go with Rick Santorium because Newt made a speech extolling the idea of America going back to the Moon?

I was on FR in 2012 when it played out, so I’m not sure where you got your history.

“He is a piss poor choice.

Who would be better? I don’t know.. “

That’s the point. Too many of you screaming your heads off, but offering jack as an alternative.....except some smug sense that you “know better”.

Just listened to a couple youtube clips and I would rate his speaking skills as average, not all that dynamic. However, he prides himself on telling the truth and rejecting political correctness.
BTW, his son is one of Trump’s chief advisers.
Today, there are stories about his being Trump’s running mate not only in the Washington Post, but The New York Post and Politico as well.

I don’t like anybody out there except Cruz.

He will have to pick a hispanic if he wants a serious shot at winning.

Cruz is pretty much the only one in the game.

“The flip side of the coin is that you have shown wisdom at being open to learning from someone much younger and of a different background than yourself. Not all in-laws are capable of such respect and humility.”

There is a possibility that he could be my son-in-law, and so he’s even more important to me. He’s a fine young man with a good job (Apple Computer) and good values. His parents came here before he was born (he’s in his early 30’s) and they both have professional careers. So it’s all in how you are raised that determines in most cases, whether you are successful in life or not. The most intereresting thing I am finding is that my AA friends are all voting for Trump, and most of them were Obama supporters, so maybe there’s some hope for the future for all of us.

Flynn looks like a pyscho and was a registered democrat until last year.

He also brings no states, no women, and no hispanics.

Terrible choice.
