Retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, who is reportedly being vetted by Donald Trump as potential running mate, was fired as head of the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) in the winter of 2014 after three decades in the military. Here he tells the real story of his departure from his post and why America is not getting any closer to winning the war on terror.
Two years ago, I was called into a meeting with the undersecretary of defense for intelligence and the director of national intelligence, and after some niceties, I was told by the USDI that I was being let go from DIA. It was definitely an uncomfortable moment (I suspect more for them than me).
I asked the DNI (Gen. James Clapper) if my leadership of the agency was in question and he said it was not; had it been, he said, they would have relieved me on the spot.
I knew then it had more to do with the stand I took on radical Islamism and the expansion of al Qaeda and its associated movements. I felt the intel system was way too politicized, especially in the Defense Department. After being fired, I left the meeting thinking, Here we are in the middle of a war, I had a significant amount of combat experience (nearly five years) against this determined enemy on the battlefield and served at senior levels, and here it was, the bureaucracy was letting me go. Amazing.
At the time, I was working very hard to change the culture of DIA from one overly focused on Washington, DC, to a culture that focused on our forward-based war fighters and commanders. It was not an easy shift, but it was necessary and exactly the reason I was put into the job in the first place.

swilling valium and vodka...
Is that NOT to be done? jk
Didn’t see these pics during the elections. Not that it would have mattered.
Black power, single motherhood (which votes 5 to 1 hillary and is now larger than married mothers), La Raz and the LGBTQRS civil rights movement is more important.
Trump may have re-prioritized after all the terrorism problems that occurred since he said that. Not saying he did, just perhaps...
oops — no.

Lose the Intrigue Mr. Trump
- - - - - -
Sour and Dour by the Hour
People are miserable enough without having to look at something democrat that looks like Hillary Clinton’s angry hemorrhoid. No one votes for angry, pulsating roids.
Lose the intrigue Mr. President, as for all of the pluses, you will be finding these minuses.
Flynn is Political Minder who was raised through the ranks of the Clintons, Bush’s and Barack Hussein Obama for the Sodom Pentagon.

LameCherry seems to dislike this guy with a passion.
Read all about it.
VP? I’m not so sure. SecDef? Absolutely.
So basically Muslim overlord Obama couldn’t have enemies that could see right through his own Taqiyyan lyin radical jihad supporting staff, especially someone from the military who was a leader so he fired him, right?
He didn't mention the demographics and buys into the “most are peaceful” bs. Will he kill the breeders? A society who can't replace its warriors is the one that's doomed. Ask the Indians.
Talking tough without knowing reality is as dangerous as the cowards and traitors now in charge.
We don't have the will to do what is really necessary. Wounded Knee wasn't pretty but it solved the issue and was the last time there was resistance.
The idea of this man as VP certainly makes the old “so and so can bring in Ohio” stuff seem pretty tired. Here Trump would have a true Obama attacker, with an honourable axe to grind. I guess I’m selfish but (having read and enjoyed the Post article) I’d love to hear him talk about getting out of the middle east not getting into it. Then again I am no world affairs expert lol.
As the media is nothing but a bunch of parrots, the highest point of interest is in that of VP, as far as a template goes. With that said, with the history of planning and building teams to get a job done, just why in the world would a logical thinker perceive that just because Trump is talking to Flynn, that the leap must be made the consideration is VP?
Even with your reasoning, why take your best possibility to do you bidding in the Pentagon, in a pond he knows so very well, and placing him in a new pool with the water a totally different temperature and chemistry?
I happen to assume he has already made the VP pick and is well on his way of announcing the cabinet so he can hit the ground running instead of feeling his way through the first year. A good executive NEVER puts someone from accounting in charge of engineering, or worse yet, manufacturing, or visa versa.
Yes, Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn needs to be a part of this administration in any relevant capacity.
So should Tom Tancredo, a stalwart on the illegal invasion who was shown the door by the RINO RNC. Rove hates tancredo - and that alone give TC much credibility.
I trust Mr. Trump’s judgement on his choice for Veep, whomever that may be. He’ll be taking the long view, we can be sure of that.
I've seen (in my role as Navy PR operative) more than some junior men and women who switched from the 'Rats to Conservative Republicans.
Stop with the “radical” jihadist, “radical” islamist etc.
They are just islamist and jihadists. We did not call the SS troopers radical nazi did we? They were just nazi.
You’re correct but I’d quibble with your last point. Everyone at high level has a specialty. Business leaders become CEO’s but they could have been marketers, operations, finance, engineering etc. Someone has to take the leap !
FWIW, it is being reported that Flynn is a registered Democrat.
Not sure how that would play with the base.
Definitely SECDEF, the Pentagon needs a house cleaning.
The ISIS scumbag in photo 3 is dead. The Russians caught him and tortured him to death.
——It infuriates me when our president bans criticism of our enemies——
Why then is there Obama?
He was fired because the Islamic enemy agent posing as our President didn’t like that the General spoke the truth. This is the government DEMOCRATS have given us today ladies and gentlemen.
( Definitely SECDEF, the Pentagon needs a house cleaning.)
Read up on Gen James Mattis. He has a successful history of removing rats from his ranks.
