Op-Ed Obama is not a scientist. JAMA shouldn't pretend he is

The Journal of the American Medical Assn. recently published a very unusual article: a scientific study authored by a sitting president of the United States. That’s never happened before.

In a sense, it’s cool that President Obama cares enough about science to want to publish a paper in one of the world’s leading medical journals. But JAMA has set a bad precedent. The article, on healthcare reform in the United States, is problematic not only in its content but in the threat it poses to the integrity of scientific publishing.

Let’s set aside the debate on whether the specific numbers in the article are factual. (Of course, there is certainly room to question Obama’s data. The president writes that “[t]rends in healthcare costs … have been promising,” even though healthcare spending per capita continues to increase.)

The ubiquitous discourse where everything is likened to sodomy or oral sex is tiresome and not productive as well as coarse and vile.

We, as conservatives, are better than that.

Talk about conforming to liberal society standards and norms.

Shall we sit and and engage in a battle of wit over a spot of tea?

You seem like a judgmental prude.

“You seem like a judgmental prude.”

I think rather the opposite given your knee-jerk reaction rather than any consideration.

I think the entire dialogue is rather humorous, considering the subject of your objection. I was only poking fun and appreciate your sentiments, especially mixed with some intellectual flare. It reminds me of how the liberal elite regard the voting peasants in this country.

I don’t take myself too seriously. You shouldn’t take me (or yourself) so seriously either when we contemplate the character or intellect of FReepers based on comments here. I actually appreciate the creative, and sometimes colorful, use our English language, especially when it would be lost on most that it is intended to insult.

Again, lighten up. You are trying too hard. Have a swell day, Good Sir.

No big deal.

I’m just saying what I think, a bit randomly.

If I addressed this sort of thing consistently I’d be saying something on almost every thread here.

So who was the ghostwriter?

I’d be willing to let him publish in ANY journal, if he actually sat down and wrote something unaided, just for the sake of getting an actual writing sample from the nearly illiterate imposter.

They fawn over him because he is their creation...they took a street turd, dressed him up in a suit and made him king of the land even though he is a worthless POS whose only accomplishment is to have gotten several cops killed!!!

That is how foolish liberal elitists are as a group!

From 2012, Why the AMA Endorses Obamacare -- But Your Doctor Does not.

The AMA no longer represents doctors. The AMA receives little of its revenue from membership fees. Most of it comes from licensing its medical "coding" system. They have their own agenda.

UTTER BOVINE EXCREMENT!!! This arrogant jerk of a man has an insatiable lust to infest everything with his presence. He's everywhere. He is on every TV show. He is on awards shows. He is giving sermons in churches. He is at memorials. He is on sporting events. His face is plastered on billboards and magazines. He write terrible essays in nearly every journal out there. He just can't stop and won't stop until he is dead. And even then there will be 100 years of Obamaworship we can't get away from.

The obvious next step is for some college to award him a medical degree. Not an honorary, but the real thing.

Substitute Obama for Kramer, and Presidency for Fantasy Camp and this has already been covered in Seinfeld:

Not exactly, but certainly fall *ss-backwards into the Presidency, getting a Nobel Peace Prize without diplomacy, and now a JAMA article without science.
