There is nothing even remotely conservative about these people. What is their problem?

I would say all Republican foreign policy professionals are anti-Trump, Are these the same "professionals" that approved of Hillary's policy in Libya? Egypt?
Ambassador Stevens could not be reached for comment.

Kagan insisted at last weeks fundraiser that U.S. foreign policy over the last 25 years has been an extraordinary success. Not even Democrats would assert such nonsense. Kagan and his ilk are all alone.

Why don’t they engage Trump? Within the party there is room for debate.

Delusional fools.
Let them vote for Hillary.
Like Americans want more foreign entanglements.
A great vote-getter for the Witch Of Chappaqua.

This is good. All the elements that have destroyed the economy for us little folk and created globalism are supporting hillary. They're self-purging from the Republican Party.
I think I've already got some Hillary and Sanders supporters in the Trump column, or at least "undecided". They don't like the uniparty elitists any more than we do.

If Russia is indeed helping Trump, then this is why
Hillary’s election is essential to pushing us into a world war in the interest of a few powers trying to maintain global economic dominance
Putin has lashed out in more and more frustration at the refusal of the media to report this story - that Russia is being pushed into a war Russia does not want- and sadly, I believe he is right

Good post, grania. This is good.

They are certainly intellectually confused--even if some have average or above average IQ's. Many of them certainly come across as dolts.
But your comment dismisses their real deficiency. By their own mentor's testimony, they are ex-Trotskyites--disciples of the chief butcher in the Bolshevik Revolution:
The Neocon Phenomenon.
They fit far, far more logically in the Hillary Clinton camp than in that of the American patriot, Donald Trump.

Reagan’s election in 1980 brought a bunch of these Democrat, neocon defense hawks into the GOP including the likes of Ben Wattenberg and Jeane Kirkpatrick. Unfortunately, they’re the ones who’ve controlled the foreign policy and national defense apparatus for almost forty years. Definitely the CFR crowd.

From the article:
"Kagan has advocated for muscular American intervention in Syria; Clintons likely pick for Pentagon chief, Michelle Flournoy, has similarly agitated for redirecting U.S. airstrikes in Syria toward ousting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
Translation:
"A Hillary Clinton regime guarantees confrontation with Russia in Syria."
