NO!
2008 was by far the most difficult year of my life so far, but obama getting selected was only one nasty thing among many.
I think/hope I'm finally on the other side of a long, 10 year stretch of the losses and sorrows that life eventually dishes out to everyone, but for me it was one after another after another without a chance to recover in between or catch my breath.
No worries now. Life goes on and I'm still here, happy, healthy and enjoying another day above ground. Soon obama will be gone and it all feels GREAT!
I should clarify. I am way worse off than I was 7 years ago. My retirement is almost gone and my family is rebuilding from the damage over the last 7 years (1 company closing doors, one company consolidating exec management, and one company sold). But THIS year will get my earnings back to where they were in mid 2009. I wouldn’t consider that “better off” than I was 7 years ago.
Laid off twice between 08 and today. Last fall being the most recent.
Do I have more income? Yes.
Has inflation eaten up most of my gains? Also yes.
I feel about the same as 2008. We go to the movies or eat out about the same. But I’m working two jobs to do it.
Seven years ago, I had religious freedom. If a customer’s request violated my religious values, I could decline to provide service. Now, I must obey the demands of anyone who orders me to comply with their whims.
Seven years ago, the reckless spending approved by George W. Bush had raised our already high national debt close to $10T, an insane amount that made me suspect that even Obama could not do much worse. Now that number is approaching $20T, proving that I should never underestimate an evil communist thug.
Seven years ago, I thought a second civil war was a slim possibility for the distant future. Today, I see it as realistic and not nearly as bad Hillary unchecked.
Same here. We saw what was coming and adjusted as best we could. So over a 50% increase in investments and around a 60% reduction in long term debt.
Overall debt now stands at about 5% of total net worth.
To a degree. I’m making more money than I ever have in my life, but none of it is any thanks to the government.
My Grandpa took me there a few times when I was a kid, and we took our boys there a few times, too.
Always an amazingly fun time! :)
I’m better off than I was 7 years ago.
No, I am not better off by a long shot.
Definitely not! So Go Trump!
