It is always a good idea when you are quoting a famous author as your main cliché of your acceptance rant to give him credit for his phrase. When Harpy said, “America is great because America is good” she lifted that quote from famous French author Alexis de Tocqueville. The point he was making was the reason America is better than Europe morally was due to the American church and their worship of Jesus Christ. Harpy of course related it to more Marxism and their worship of tolerance.

Her speech was by far the worst speech of the two weeks although the best one she has ever given. Her facial expressions were toned down and the screaming parrot only showed up when she went into full Marxist mode about Global Warming and free college so she managed to give a decent speech in front of her adoring crowd. It was the so bad Bill fell asleep as she pitched her hundred billion dollar money laundering scheme or as some people call it, her Presidency. Who can fault Bill since he has heard or given her speech at least a thousand times only better.

She had to give the standard bromide which has been given a hundred times from the DNC podium, it is part of the formula. It is always a list of clichés in search of an idea. What was different about this one is Trump forced her to wrap herself in the flag and spew American jingoism and nationalism which came across as more phony than her stories about caring about kids or her mother’s inspiration. Trump was in the entire speech outside the free stuff as she had to try to reach those everyday Joes who are tired of working for Black Lives Matter.

Of course the Pundiots loved her speech and were absolutely gushing over how well she did and how this bump will propel her to the Whitehouse over that troglodyte Trump, but enough about Fox News. After watching her clichfest and how poorly it was delivered I feel more confident this will be a Trump tsunami. This is a referendum on both Hilary and do we want to keep going the direction we are heading. Do we want to continue to have below average employment and the burden of Obamacare? Do we want our streets owned by Black Lives Matter and ISIS or do we want to take them back? Do we want to continue to attack Christians and excuse Islam? Do we want a turd term of Obama?

The two candidates had two tasks to accomplish in their speeches. Trump’s task was to say he is a viable alternative to Hillary. Harpy’s task was to say what she was going to do to make things better than they are now. Her solution to getting the economy moving is another trillion dollar bridge project just like Barack Hussain’s. Her other suggestion was to close down the fossil fuel industry and more solar and clean energy. Where have we heard that before? She was long on the same old clichés and short on any real solutions. She said if you are happy with the way things are, vote for her.

What you saw in her speech was what I have been preaching for the last few years about how to beat the Dems. She had to sound more like Trump and less like Obama to not scare off the normal Americans. If she went full Bernie on them they would go straight to Trump since the Country is far more conservative than the DNC. This is why she wrapped herself in the flag and why they silenced BLM during her lecture and said she would not take away your guns, she had to move to the Right to trick America into voting for her. This is why she added all those jingoistic clichés into her speech to fool the workers.

What Trump has to be aware of is to not move to the Left where the people are not. The best fishing is right under his boat or even slightly to the Right. If he avoids the temptation to move towards Hillary to match her need to move to the Right he will win this in a landslide. This is the mistake all of the candidates have made and why they have all been defeated. By his press conference and speeches it appears he is going to hold his ground and let the voters come to him which they will just like Brexit and Bibi in a silent tsunami.

Speaking of tsunamis, was Bernie given the shaft by the DNC or what? Even though Harpy had the thing in the bag from the start with their phony election system they were terrified of the Bern. Here is a full blown communist who was not afraid to say it and the voters were flocking to him and away from her. They actually had people in the DNC who thought she was too corrupt to be President and they did not know what to do so they set up a firewall in the South by spreading rumors that Bernie was not an atheist like every good Dem but was actually a dirty Jew.

Unlike the RNC which does not have the Super Delegate system which minimizes the power of the vote, they just have scratchy, scratchy which Trump was able to overcome. I was worried myself that my longshot prediction of Bernie winning would come true and he would give Trump a run for his money. He actually would have won a fair election.

Now we will see a mild bump or no bump for Her Majesty which will mean she will have to find a way to win without giving them a reason. She will have a lying media to help except this time they are not going against a candidate who needs the media and she does not have the skills to excite. Her taking a Greydog bus while Trump is flying in AirTrump 1 tells you all you need to know.

This election Trump exposes everyone for who they are. The remainder of the election will be Trump talking about Trump and Crooked Hillary. It will be Harpy talking about Trump and the media talking about Trump. If you haven’t noticed a pattern it will be everyone talking about Trump since he is the only one who excites. She is going to be attacking him while she gives some tired cliché riddled stump speech sticking to the formula which has worked twenty times before. The problem for her is she does not have Rove on the other side doing exactly what she wants him to do while Trump has his gut telling him to do just the opposite and playing outside the box.

Every state is in play for two reasons. This economy is so bad and there is nothing Harpy is saying to improve it. People across America are tired of being lied to and lectured about how bad they are. The second is Trump gives them a real alternative. He hit a home run with his speech since the sole purpose of it was to assure the people he is an alternative who could do just as well as her and by every measure showed he is the stronger of the two. Now he has to own the ground he has taken and give America a real choice. Rather than him moving Left and losing his base, the country will move Right and cause a landslide. The entire world is waiting for America to lead once again because America is good.

One thing that got my attention was my wife's take on the Hildabeast's speech.

My wife has become an FNC loyalist. She watches it more than I do. She has yet to discover the internet but she's getting a lot more info than a year ago.She watched hillary's speech.

I watched the marlins.

The next day she came to me with all this crap about how wonderful it is that the first woman is running for potus on and on and on.

I couldn't believe what I was hearing.

It occurred to me that playing the female card may be even more effective than playing the race card.

It's something we need to keep in mind. Women are not the same as guys. We guys keep forgetting that. Pays to keep it in mind. If other wometn thoght the same way we will need to work evern harder to get Trump into office.

The entire speech was directed at women and NeverTrump News pushed that narrative completely. Why any male would vote after that speech is a mystery.

You can bet they will be pushing it this morning as Chris serves her softball after softball with one question about the emails with no follow.

Compare his tone with his Trump interviews. This will not be a combative but congratulatory tone.

Wallace won’t ask any tough questions. Clinton will filibuster her answers to any questions Wallace does ask.

The biggest BS is this Islamic parent of the KIA soldier.

So they use him to criticize the BLANK out of Trump, and now when Trump hits back, Trump is portrayed as not only an Anti-Muslim bigot, but totally insensitive to the sad parents of an slain American hero.

It reminds of how, in years past, you could criticize even the President of the United States, even in an extremely harsh and vicious way (BLANK Bush, stay out of da Bushes, Tricky Dick Nixon, etc), but NOW, elect a half black President, and any criticism of HIM is just racism.

I’ve been arguing abut this Muslim with liberal family members. They say Trump has gone too far and crossed the line by attacking this Muslim and his wife. I counter that Trump is countering, not attacking, for what Kahn said at the DNC. They then counter that Kahn spoke because of Trump’s racist remarks about Muslims and not letting them into the USA. I counter that with asking them “What EXACTLY did Trump say?”

Of course they’re way off, conveniently leaving out the vetting part of the statement. So I give them the FULL quote. Finally, one family member said to me, “It doesn’t matter. I hate Trump and he’s an anti-Muslim bigot.”

I replied, “Then so am I. I agree with Trump on this. MILLIONS of other Americans do, too. Ignore us at YOUR peril, but we’re ALL voting.”

“How can YOU say this?” They exclaim. “You’re not a bigot!”

I then talk about the past several weeks in Germany and France. I mention San Bernardino and Orlando. I tell them, “You know I served 22 years in the military. Do you really think I gave that up when I retired? NO! I still want to see my country kept safe! I will not allow people like you to use your emotions and political correctness to kill another person! You need to start thinking beyond democrat and Republican and start to think about YOUR country and people’s lives! Should we let in people we have no way of knowing if they’re from ISIS or not? That’s crazy. Insane. Dumber than Trump.”

They either agree with me or tell me they no longer want to discuss politics with me. That last one I always get when I’m winning.

So good morning AB, All. I am here this morning, goodness last week was a bit of a riot.

As always, thank you AB for doing this thread every Sunday, reliably and timely. Thank you Bray for weekly wisdom and thank you commenters for fleshing out the nuances and reading between the political Sunday talk show lines.

Just got back from Massachusetts and got quite a story for you guys, I ought to charge you for it.

Let us begin by noting that Massachusetts has something you’ll not find in Delaware and that would be ROCKS! They got them all on the hills and stuff with warnings to watch for rocks that fall. Also, in Connecticut, something else we do not have in Delaware and that would be HILLS! Damn, up and down, what a hoot.

Granddaughter adored the drive up and back and she did get to meet Matthew.

Who is Matthew you say?

Heh.

His name is Matthew Fish and guarantee that some day he too will be writing on this thread. Well hell’s bells, someday that boy gonna be President.

He is the son of my now deceased-husband’s brother, Michael, and dear Lord there is a sad story about him, perhaps later in the thread.

I met Matthew the last time I drove up to Massachusetts by myself and he and I hit it off immediately. Now I do not want to sound like a pervert because Matthew is only 14 years old but mentally that boy is at least 30. Get this….he is very conservative, a political junkee, wears Trump hats and shirts and has calculated when he will turn 40 so he can run for president.

And he means it folks. If any one of you were to talk to Matthew Fish you’d be impressed out of your socks. On this trip he describes a recent senate mock hearing done at, of all places, the Ted Kennedy museum of nothing-burgers or some such,. Matthew re-enacts his argument AGAINST minimum wage and he got it all right and couched it wonderfully.

As an aside, insert smile and wink here, Matthew’s voice has changed, heh, and that little buck-toothed boy I remember now talks like a country-western singer. He also informed me that China always votes NO in the UN, which I did not know.

In that mock hearing Matthew actually beat out his Social Studies teacher to win the debate. The mock senators all voted AGAINST minimum wage based on Matthew’s argument.

Matthew won a four year scholarship to a private school, he is a Catholic and goes to mass every day, he springs from good parentage as the Fish men were all born husbands and fathers.

Now you may smile and keep your sense of humor on….WHY YES I DO HAVE A BEAUTIFUL DROP-DEAD GORGEOUS GRANDDAUGHTER 12 YEARS OF AGE AND HEY, SOMEDAY MATTHEW WILL NEED A FIRST LADY, NO?

Kaitlyn did meet Matthew and she and I kind of joked on the way home, how her name might be Kaitlyn Frey Fish…..heh, can’t make it up though I do write fiction.

Now for your final guffaw…..Kaitlyn and I get ready for bed and we discuss Matthew. Well she’s only 12, be 13 this December, but she was quite impressed. I explained how Matthew will need a first lady and she needs to learn politics and indeed both of us did watch the Democratic convention.

And here I am, a women’s libber of yore, angry at men cause they didn’t have all the pain of being a woman and for whatever godawful reason but years of raising clenched fists against male chauvinist pigs and you know what I responded to Kaitlyn’s query of what else to do besides learn politics…?

“Kaitlyn, you just sit on the side and be beautiful.”

A lifetime of women’s lib and this is my advice to gorgeous granddaughter.
