After non-endorsement, will Texans stand by U.S. Senator Ted Cruz?

Suddenly, U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, isn’t acting like a shoo-in for re-election.

After his prime-time non-endorsement of GOP nominee Donald Trump at the Cleveland convention caused a firestorm, Cruz became the target of a lot of speculation. Already Democrats such as former State Sen. Wendy Davis, formerly of Fort Worth, and U.S. Rep. Joaquin Castro of San Antonio are talking about throwing their hats in the ring for U.S. Senate in 2018.

As soon as Castro said in a joint CBS News’ interview with his brother, Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Julian Castro, that he was “going to take a look at it,” Cruz launched a fundraising appeal.

“Despite any record of achievement and a liberal ideology out of touch with the majority of Texans, the Castro brothers have the full support of the mainstream media and Washington establishment willing to do everything in their power to turn Texas blue,” said Cruz. “Help me fight back!”

I am reminded of what Lincoln said concerning US Grant when people clamored to have him dismissed because of his drinking: “I can’t dismiss him, he fights.” Well, Ted Cruz is a fighter.

What?????

Ted cRuz is NO fighter! He’s a slimy opportunist, who LIED to his constituents about his citizenship and continued from there....PRETENDING to be the conservative hero we’d been looking and longing for.

His co-authored TPA OpEd with the equally slimy Lyin Paul Ryan was the next hint he gave us. Siding up with whacko Glenn Beck was the next terrible misstep, by St Raphael (that fake swearing in/oath was beyond reprehension). He then made terrible decisions in IA and CO, etc.

His epic, very public meltdown on NATIONAL TV....at the RNC CONVENTION....was his memorable grand finale.

Again....Lyin untrusTED is NO fighter. Unless it has to do with his OWN benefit. He’s an embarrassment, to the great state of Texas.

As a Texan, I hope there is a primary opponent for Cruz in 2018. The only way I see myself ever voting for Cruz is if Trump wins the presidency and it comes down to Cruz and a dem like Abortion Barbie. If Hillary wins, it won’t really matter who I vote for from here on out; and I would have to blame Cruz at least a little for electing her if that happens. Cruz will not get my vote if Hillary wins.

If he wants me to support his public service, I will show him where to mow and weedeat at the park.

To quote Rush on another notable non-NBC as POTUS, "I hope he fails."

No matter who beats him, I am comforted by Ted Cruz's defeat.

Ted Cruz himself taught me this the moment he said he was a Natural Born American Citizen.

Say what?!?..a natural born American citizen who wasn't actually born in the US, didn't have an American father and didn't even live and breathe under these American skies as a citizen until he was what, four years old? GTF off of my yard!

I know he has some people fooled, but to me the man is dangerous and is a threat to our Constitution and Republic.

I'm comforted by his recent public self-unmasking and even more by his defeat.

We don’t want to lose a seat because of that jerk.

Unfortunately, I think that means that Cruz will have to be primaried out in 2018. I think he has lost a lot of Republican support, and I don't know if there will be enough left to defeat Castro.

However, I'm not worried about Wendy Davis. Absent massive voter fraud or her opponent caught on live TV committing a hate crime, she will never win a statewide office in TX.
