Huelskamp’s defeat had little or nothing to do with Cruz. If you understood Kansas politics, you’d know there are THREE parties there: Democrats, (Conservative) Republicans and “Moderate” (Far-Left Socialist) “Republicans.” The latter has often had too much sway in the state and has elected left-wingers indistinguishable from national Democrats.
In fact, it was so bad in Kansas with their domination of state politics that the Democrat Governors were more Conservative than the “Moderate” RINOs. Other than for former Governor Bill Graves, a left-wing RINO, every Republican going back to the ‘60s never won reelection until Gov. Brownback broke the streak as the first Conservative GOP Governor in a half-century.
Back to Huelskamp, who came from the state legislature (Senate) before going to Congress in 2010, he was seriously targeted by the “Moderate GOP” left in the state (he had been an unapologetic Conservative, actually working on abortion issues and trying to put a stop to the gay marriage insanity by having it declared by the voters to be only as God declared it: Man and Woman). He beat one of theirs in the 2010 primary, but it was 2014 when the establishment left pulled out all the stops and backed a left-leaning nobody in the primary named Alan LaPolice, who got within a narrow 10% margin of Huelskamp.
Marshall merely filled the part LaPolice did 2 years ago, with the establishment running him as their puppet and pulling it off this time. At the same time yesterday, nearly a dozen solid Conservative legislators in Kansas were beaten by leftist-backed RINO puppets. Again, this was more internal state politics and had nothing to do with supporting Sen. Cruz. Those “Moderates” have zero use for Cruz and are more in line with Hillary than anyone else. It wouldn’t have mattered if Huelskamp had been outspoken or not for either Trump or Cruz, he’s been a target since before either ran for President.
Ol Arlen snarling Spector was born in Kansas. They do not call it the land of OZ for no reason... The name Governor Sebelius ring any bells. Bob Dole was not exactly ‘conservative’... and he sure did not move back to Kansas after he lost his bid for the oval office.
As ol Reverend Wright famously said ‘the chickens are coming home to roost’... Once Cruz could not get Mitch the Senate to resolve him eligible to hold the office of president he slithered off to the House of Representatives... seducing them in the name of conservatism... in hopes to get republican delegates in majority... back door to the presidency...
But you keep on preaching how you see politics through your sliver of glass. As ‘conservative’ as you claim Huelskamp, (what a name) is, he lacked the wisdom of discernment and hitched his wagon to a loser. I do not like pathological liars.. And Ted Cruz comes in the likeness of the Clintons and Obama on the grand scale of pathological lying.
