Hillary Clinton Told F.B.I. Colin Powell Advised Her to Use Private Email
The New York Times ^ | AUG. 18, 2016 | By AMY CHOZICK

Pressed by the F.B.I. about her email practices at the State Department, Hillary Clinton told investigators that former Secretary of State Colin L. Powell had advised her to use a personal email account

The account is included in the notes the Federal Bureau of Investigation handed over to Congress on Tuesday, relaying in detail the three-and-a-half-hour interview with Mrs. Clinton in early July that led to the decision by James B. Comey, the bureau’s director, not to pursue criminal charges against her.

The journalist Joe Conason first reported the conversation between Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Powell in his coming book about Bill Clinton’s postpresidency, “Man of the World: The Further Endeavors of Bill Clinton,” which The Times received an advanced copy of.

Mr. Conason describes a conversation in the early months of Mrs. Clinton’s tenure at the State Department at a small dinner party hosted by Madeleine Albright, another former secretary of state, at her home in Washington. Henry Kissinger and Condoleezza Rice also attended.

“Toward the end of the evening, over dessert, Albright asked all of the former secretaries to offer one salient bit of counsel to the nation’s next top diplomat,” Mr. Conason writes. “Powell told her to use her own email, as he had done, except for classified communications, which he had sent and received via a State Department computer.”

Mr. Conason continued, “Saying that his use of personal email had been transformative for the department,” Mr. Powell “thus confirmed a decision she had made months earlier — to keep her personal account and use it for most messages.”

A longtime defender of the Clintons, Mr. Conason interviewed both Mr. and Mrs. Clinton for the book, a granular account of the years since Mr. Clinton left office that will be published on Sept. 13.

However, I must say that is Classic Clinton Triangulation.

Knowing Powell is much more popular than Hillary.

Say Powell had a home server when he was Secretary of State.

Powell endorses Clinton.

Powell is interviewed about his endorsement of Clinton.

During that interview Powell says, “I had a home server when I was Secretary of State and I’m a man you can trust.”

The goal is to minimize the negitive opinion of Hillary’s use of the home server.

The journalist Joe Conason first reported the conversation between Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Powell in his coming book...

So, does she pay these people to lie for her....or threaten them with death?

“Colon Bowel ain’t gonna like this.”

Powell is in on it.

He knows the purpose of Hillary telling that to the FBI.

Put them both in jail... I hate when the left uses people on the right who refuse to defend themselves to make excuses for bad judgment

“except for classified communication”

As it’s repeated in coming days by the talking heads, that part will be conveniently left out.

But did he tell her to use a personal email account for classified information? Let’s makes sure we get him on the record for that and then ask him why would he support someone who is so stupid she doesn’t understand she is reading highly classified HUMINT information in emails? Then lets really ask the tough question, who took this information from secure side networks and put it on an unclass side to get it to her private server in the first place. The from line in the classified emails demands that person go to jail.

No explanation for why Powell found using a personal email “transformative.” What does he mean?

He also says the State dept .gov email was antiquated. How?

Classic.

I think when I was about 5 years old I used this excuse. My mother’s response was “If they told you to jump off a bridge, would you do it?”

Didn’t work then. Doesn’t work now.

But did Powell actually use a private email server for his personal emails as opposed to a separate email address? Is the operative distinction between private and business or classified and other? As with everything emanating from the Clintons you have to parse it very carefully.
I have a separate email address as an elected official. All my official emails go to and from that address.

Sorry. This sounds like a total fabrication. Who the hell brings up email as a dinner conversation? Why would using personal email at work be "transformative"? Even if one buys this conversation about using a personal email account, how does that morph into setting up your own email server? That is something the average person does not do. It is something most IT people don't even do. Why would you?

Hillary is shifting the blame to Powell and Powell is playing along.
